“You’ll have some time to come to terms with what happened. I’m leavingEl Infiernofor a while,” Gabriel murmured, staring into the shock in my eyes when I turned my head up.

“I don’t want that either,” I whispered, looking over at the two other brothers I loved. Would they go with him? Would they stay?

I didn’t think I could cope without them in my life either.

“Faye is still out there,” he said, toying with the ends of my hair playfully. “She needs to answer for her part in what she did.”

“No. She was just protecting her brother—”

“This is how our world works,mi reina. I have no intention of killing her, but she needs to face the consequences of her actions. She needs to pay herpenitencia.”

“Her brother is dead. He bled out in her arms. I think she’s suffered enough, and I’m the one she wronged. Leave her alone,” I ordered.

“Sadly,mi reina. She owes her penance toEl Diablo. Not to you,” he said, smirking and turning his eyes to where Rafael glared at me. There was no forgiveness in that cold stare, no willingness to understand that her circumstances had been challenging.

The breath left my lungs, knowing that no matter what I said or did, Gabriel would hunt Faye to the ends of the earth.

He would find her, and he would bring her home to punish her.
