“Never,” I breathe out, squirming at the new sensation. “No one ever will.”
“Oh, yeah?” I can hear it in his tone… how he thinks I issued a challenge. “Bet I could change your mind.”
“Fat chance,” I say with a laugh, moving to stand.
Jake beats me to it, holding out a hand to help me up. When I make it to my feet, Jake pulls me closer, keeping me steady on my shaky legs. He looks like he wants to say something, but he kisses me instead.
