CHAPTER50
JAX
The armed guards outside Alejandro’s hotel room allow me through without any hesitation at all, so I suppose he still doesn’t have a hit out on me at least.
I walk through the room until I find him in his office. He’s on his phone. He’s smiling but it turns to a scowl when he looks up and sees me standing in his doorway.
“I got to go, princess. Jax is here.”
He’s talking to Alana.
“I won’t.”
She just made him promise not to kill me.
“Love you too. Bye, princess.”
He ends the call and glares at me. “Something I can help you with?”
“Yes. I need to ask you something,” I say as I step inside the room.
“I don’t have any more daughters for you to corrupt,” he snaps.
“Alejandro!”
He shakes his head in frustration. “How is my daughter? I barely see her these days.”
It’s been four days since we rescued her from that psychopath and although we worked together to get her back, we haven’t spoken since. I think he’s pissed at me because I told her about the tracker, but she had every right to know.
“She was at your house last night,” I remind him. I picked her up and had to wait outside like an employee. In fact worse than an employee—they are allowed inside his house.
He changes the subject. “What do you want to ask me?”
“I’m not asking for your permission here, but I do want your blessing,” I say.
He leans back in his chair and frowns at me. “To do what?”
“To marry Lucia.”
He laughs out loud. “You? Getting married?”
“Yeah.”
“Seriously?” He stops scowling now and regards me with curiosity.
“I told you I’m in love with her, amigo. I plan to spend the rest of my life with her.”
“And if I say no?”
“Then I’ll ask her anyway.”
He frowns again. “Is she pregnant?”
“No. And you know up until a few days ago she had an implant.”
“Hmm.”
“But we will have kids one day and if you want to be part of their lives—”
