Having Katherine all to himself in paradise—and making every one of the prurient fantasies he’d had about her since their first merry meeting come true—was appealing to all his baser instincts. But he wasn’t about to push his luck.
‘Really?’ Terry looked sceptical. ‘You haven’t taken a proper holiday in the ten years I’ve known you.’
‘I’m a workaholic, Terry. I like working. I can’t spend a fortnight twiddling my thumbs just for a good photo op.’ Not that he planned to be twiddling his thumbs, exactly.
Terry sent him a garrulous look. ‘How about ten days, then?’
‘A week,’ Jack countered. ‘We’ll leave tomorrow night,’ he added, the adrenaline rush surging at the thought he would only have to endure one more night—two at the most—without Katherine in his bed. ‘In the Wolfe jet.’
He sat behind his desk, feeling more settled than he had in days. Hell, weeks. Make that four months ago. Ever since the first time he’d set eyes on his future trophy wife in her Little Red Riding Hooker outfit. He smiled. Maybe he could get her to bring it so he could peel it off her, the way he’d dreamed of doing ever since that night.
‘That’s great, Jack.’ Terry rubbed his hands together with undisguised glee. ‘I’ll talk to Sully in the marketing division and the resort management team. And I’ll let Gorinda know so she can rearrange your schedule. Do you want her to inform Mrs Wolfe of your plans?’
He looked up from his desk. ‘Nah, I’ll speak to her myself,’ he said as the surge of adrenaline took on a fiercely possessive edge. ‘Tell Gorinda I’ll be eating in Grosvenor Square tonight.’
It was way past time he started laying down the law in this marriage—which was supposed to be for his convenience, not hers. He’d paid handsomely for the damn privilege after all. He’d been considerate—mindful of her delicate condition and the huge changes he was imposing on her life and her business. But she’d said herself at the reception that the sickness wasn’t a big problem any more. He knew from his business manager’s report that Cariad Cakes was now firmly established in its new premises in Hammersmith, and he had seen the way she’d looked at him on their wedding night. She was as hungry for him as he was for her. And he’d given her three long days and nights to come to terms with the way things were, which was more than long enough.
