“She accidently got drunk?”

“Why are you being such a judgmental jerk?”

“Because those people aren’t you. Those captions you write with each post that say nothing at all, they aren’t you.”

“Maybe they are me now.”

“That’s what I’m worried about.”

I took a step back, but he matched my step, holding on tome.

“Don’t be mad,” he said.

“What am I supposed to be? Happy? Maybe you’re the one who’s fake. You stopped drawing, Skyler. And you say I don’t know you anymore but you refuse to share anything real withme.”

“Maybe I have trust issues.”

“You’re the one who left,” I snapped. “You packed up and took away my whole life, my entire heart. Those first few months felt like drowning. Meeting Willow was the first time I could breathe again. So I’m sorry if you just wanted me to sit there and drown without you and I didn’t. I’m sorry if you don’t approve of my life rafts. They’re my friends. And being popular isn’t a character flaw, last I checked.”

I twisted out of his grip and left the way we’d come. I made my way past people sitting in front of their RVs eating meals, and people walking the path to the main building and the big brick bathhouse in the middle of the property, until I got to ourcampsite.
