“Whoa,” he said, reaching up and taking my hand in his. “Norah, that’s a jump. She obviously had a relationship with you first.”

I shrugged. “People like the watered-down version of me.”
“I like the concentrated version of you.”
I laughed. “I’m glad.”
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my mom exiting the building. I moved my legs, dumping Skyler’s head on the grass.
“Ouch,” he said.
“Sorry. Incoming.”
He sat up, but I feared it was too late. My mom was giving me her mom look.
“Norah, let’s chat,” she said when she reached us.
