“You know what doesn’t sound fun? Being a priest. Why do you do that?” I ask. “I mean, are you like asexual or something?”
He turns to look at me, his eyes slightly narrowed.
I open my mouth, my cheeks red. “You know what? It’s absolutely none of my business. Forget I asked.”
“I’m not,” he says. “On the ace spectrum, I mean.”
“Okay…”
“I didn’t join because I expected this to be easy,” he says, the smile still on his face. “I joined because I wanted to make the world a better place. And I realized that I had a special talent for banishing evil, so that’s what I do.”
“And that’s what you did with me?” I ask. “You needed to get rid of the evil that lived inside me.”
He laughs, something in his eyes sparkling. “You’re not evil, Trine,” he says. “But if you were, honestly, I could totally see the appeal.”
