“And?”
She shrugged. “No big deal, it’s just…today’s my birthday.”
“Happy birthday, miss.” The front desk clerk slid the key card across the counter to Crash. “Your key, sir.”
Crash’s eyes held Shannon’s for a moment before they moved to the clerk. “Thank you.”
Several minutes later, they were riding up in the elevator when Crash looked over at her. “Is it really your birthday?” She nodded, and he looked back at the numbers flashing above the door. Seven. Eight. Nine. “I want to take you out tonight.”
She looked over at him. “Out?”
“Yeah. For dinner. Somewhere nice. Actually, there’s a nice restaurant here in the hotel.”
She glanced down at her jeans and shirt. “Crash, I’ve nothing to wear, and…”
“I’ll give you some money to buy a dress, shoes, whatever stuff chicks need.”
She looked over, meeting his eyes, frowning. “You’re serious?”
“Sure.” He reached over and slid his hand to her neck, turning her toward him, and he grinned down at her. “How old?”
She rolled her eyes. “I’m not telling.”
“Shannon, how old?” he repeated, turning serious.
“Twenty-five.”
His eyes moved over her face. “Damn, baby. I got ten years on you.”
She grinned. “Old man.”
“Don’t worry, Princess, I can still keep up with you.”
She arched a brow. “Oh, can you?”
He backed her against the wall. “Need me to prove it?”
The elevator dinged, and the doors slid open. She smiled up at him. “Saved by the bell.”
“Only for the moment.” He took her hand and pulled her down the hall to their room. Crash slid the key card in the slot and pushed the door open. They walked in. There was a king size bed and your basic room amenities, but what drew Shannon was the large wall of windows showcasing the view of Reno and the front range of the Sierra Nevada’s beyond the city skyline. It was gorgeous. “Oh, Crash, look.”
He shrugged out of his cut and shoulder holster, then he came up behind her, his arms going around her and kissed her neck.
“Isn’t it gorgeous?”
“Fucking beautiful, baby.”
She turned her head to the side to look at him. “Are you even looking at the mountains?”
“What mountains?” he murmured, still caught up in kissing her neck.
“You’re not even looking.”
Turning her around, he lifted her up and walked to the bed. “Later. Right now, I’ve got something more important to do.”
Her back hit the bed, and he came down on top of her. She grinned up at him. “Oh? And what’s that?”
“Giving you an orgasm.” He slid down her body, his hands working on the fastening of her jeans.
