“Don’t speak to her like that.” My voice was soft but had a lace of assertiveness in it.

“Or what?” she laughed as the two guys from Monday approached, and two girls who I’d seen with them a few times during the week.

“Or nothing,” I snickered and rolled my eyes, “you’re acting like your shit don’t stink. We’re all the same princess, sorry to burst your bubble. Costs nothing to be kind; with a mouth like that you should be in a fucking swamp.” I shook my head from side to side as I grabbed Regina’s hand and pulled her forward as we began walking.

I heard the tsk leave the girl’s lips as I held my head high and continued walking towards her. I would not be bullied or belittled by this stupid bitch.

Walking past, one of the girls stuck her foot out and made Regina trip. I couldn’t stop her in time, she fell onto all fours and let her head fall, her glasses falling to the floor. The red head that tripped her looked down at her and tutted “oopsie” before stepping on her glasses. I heard the crack, and my heart thumped. She smirked, her eyes were ablaze, looking at me.

I crouched down, pulling Regina up. Her eyes rimmed with tears, her glasses snapped in two.

Pushing Regina behind me, I stepped towards the redhead. The smirk soon fell from her face as her eyes volleyed back and forth.

“You need to apologise.” I said quietly, my eyes pinned to her.

“I’m not apologising.” She crossed her arms across her chest as she tried to step around me. I held my arm out, shaking my head from side to side.

“You’re not going anywhere until you say sorry,” my tone was still quiet and calm.

“Let her go.” The mean girl was behind me, her voice dancing over me.

I spun, pushing myself against the redhead and holding her there. “Not until she apologises.”

Mean girl rolls her eyes so far in the back of her head I thought for a moment they would get stuck there.

“Anything interesting up there?” I asked, sarcasm lacing my voice.

“Eurgh, Bianca… say sorry to four eyes.”

“Her name is Regina.”

“Say sorry to Regina,” mean girl gritted out.

“Sorry.” Bianca said. I spun, smiling at her.

“See, Bianca. It really wasn’t that hard, was it?” I smirked, stepping back. She scarpered past me and stood next to her black-haired friend.

“Go.” Mean girl snapped, turning her head to look at her entourage. They all nodded and turned to walk down the hall.

“Finished? Good, I’m hungry.” I barged past her, knocking into her shoulder as I did to get to Regina.

I felt a tug on my hair, pulling me back.

“I was talking to you too, geek. Now go.” Mean girl hissed at Regina; my eyes widened as I looked at her.

“Regina, don’t…” I said firmly, but it was no use. Regina picked her glasses up and ran down the hall.

“Good, now we are alone.” Mean girl smiled as she let go of my hair and stepped around me, so she was standing in front of me.

“I think I need to give you a little low down of how this all works.” Her finger twirled around, her eyes looking round the now empty halls.

“Do you?” I teased, smiling at her.

“I am the queen of the school; everyone else is below me and that’s how it will stay. I will not have some dirty little skank come intomyschool and try to act the hero.” She snarled, “Do yourself a favourIvy, stay out of my way and don’t get involved in my shit.” She pushed me into the wall.

“I won’t need to get involved if you and your little brats leave my friend alone.”

She laughed in my face, her eyes scanning up and down the halls to make sure we were still alone.
