“Remember, if there’s something you need, find Henri.”

“Interesting name.”

“Interesting woman.”

When he offered nothing more, Liv strode to the windows that overlooked a woodland. The dense canopy made her feel as though she stood in the middle of a treehouse. If she craned her neck to the right, where the ridge slid down into a shallow hollow, she could make out the top of a steeple.

“That’s the chapel,” he said near her ear.

If she leaned back, would her shoulders touch his broad chest?

Closing her eyes, she imagined the feel of his powerful arms drawing her close until her bottom nestled against the hard ridge of his erection. Feel him pulse against her once, twice—

Her eyes slammed open, and she stepped away from the window and temptation. “This is great. Thank you.”

“I hope you’ll be comfortable.”

“How could I not? Everything I need is right here.”

Including you.

A restrained energy seemed to pulse off him as if he wanted to be anywhere but in this room with her. “Settle in while I get cleaned up.” At the door, he turned back to give her a cursory glance. “I’ll meet you downstairs in ten minutes.”

Then he was gone.

Wrapping her arms around her middle to ward off the sudden chill in the room, she wandered back to the window and searched for the chapel’s steeple. How many confessions had echoed within its four, stout, hallowed walls?

How many of Zeke’s secrets did it harbor?
