Grace grabbed his arm. She couldn’t let him turn around and run if he was afraid. One thing was training. Another was having the real deal in front of them. It wasn’t Grace’s first encounter with vampires, but for Lori and Craig, it was.

“You’ve been training for this moment for three years now. Grow a pair and stop shaking.”

“That’s really condescending of you,” Craig complained.

“Condescending? Have you lost your mind?”

“Just because I’m a guy doesn’t mean I need to grow a pair. Fear is a natural reaction to…”

Grace covered his mouth before he could ramble anything else. “I swear that if any of us die because of you, I’ll make sure you’re removed from school and sent back home. Do you understand me?”

Craig nodded, his eyes bulging.

She spoke closer to his ear. “Good, because they’re here, and they’re surrounding us. When I say go, you’ll run behind us, and we’ll circle them instead. Got it?”

He nodded again.

Lori and Andrea remained still, closer to Grace’s and Craig’s legs.

Grace spoke through their mind link.Remember about our training. Wolves aim at the neck while we stab their hearts to kill them. If there are too many enemies, wolves will shift back into their human form and use their weapons.

Why are you using telepathy now?Craig questioned.

They already know where we are. We need to talk without them listening.Grace clarified before adding,Craig, scream for help if you’re in trouble.

A few bloody suckers don’t scare me!

Go, now! Run as fast as you can.
