Luna began to walk away, hoping they’d take the hint and leave her alone. This wasn’t a discussion she could win, as Olivia Tyler followers were rabid and unreasonable, just how she liked them.
“You need to stop talking about her.” One of them walked beside her. “Olivia is real and doesn’t need your shit.”
“I’ve never posted anything about her.” Luna kept her cool.
“Bullshit. I’ve seen it. You’re jealous.”
“Okay, sure.”
They surrounded her. One in front, one on each side now. She could handle herself. She was six foot tall and worked out. Plus, they were on the main street with plenty of people a yell away. Luna didn’t want it to get to that, but she wouldn’t back off either.
“Look. You like Olivia, that’s fine, but that doesn’t give you the right to harass me. So go away,” she said with more bite to it than usual.
“You okay, Luna?”
She looked over her shoulder and saw Ted and Mandy.
“All good. Nothing to worry about.”
“Plenty to worry about, because she’s a faker,” one of the girls said.
“What’s going on?”
Excellent, just what this situation needed. Nash had arrived. His face was hard, eyes focused on her, and for once she just wished the ground would actually come through and open up to swallow her.
“Everything is fine. These ladies were just leaving.”
“You need to understand Olivia Tyler is better than you.”
“Olivia Tyler?” Charlie appeared, and Luna only just fought down her moan. “That bitch is a fake fraudster who makes her money through BS. She’s nothing compared to Luna.”
Crap.
“Charlie, it’s okay.” But her usually controlled friend who rarely made a scene was now anything but.
“Is Olivia Tyler that woman with the big lips who talks constantly about how good her activewear is?” Mandy asked.
“I think that’s her, sweetheart,” Ted said.
“Woman’s poison,” Maggs said, arriving. “Absolute venomous bitch.”
“Don’t talk about Olivia like that!”
“She’s a goddess!”
“She saved me!”
The four women who had accosted Luna started yelling.
“From what?” Charlie scoffed. “As far as I can see, the only thing that woman has saved is money for liposuction and implants. Now back away from my friend.”
“Okay, we’re done,” Luna said, looking at the girls. “You all need to leave now. I don’t give a damn about your insults or your beliefs. I have never insulted Olivia publicly nor will I. I suggest you go and research your facts and find out just who is the one doing that.”
“You’re wrong!” One of them stepped closer to Luna, her face now inches away.
“Enough.” Nash grabbed Luna’s arm and pulled her out of the Olivia Tyler fan club. She was then settled between him and Ted. “Back off now.”
He hadn’t yelled but had said the words with enough force that the women took notice and retreated.
