“I met the owner of that place. He’s nice. Seems kind of harsh he’s being punished for wanting to make a go of a new life. He’s French,” she said, “and lonely. He just wants to fit in.”

“Aww, really?” Rory said. “Now we’ll have to go.” She looked like a cute pixie sitting up there dressed in cutoffs, black boots, and a tank top. Her hair was a riot of curls. “I wasn’t liked when I came back, and it’s no fun.”

“There you go then,” Luna said, not sure why she was suddenly championing Albert.

“Okay, I’ll talk to the others, and maybe the Robbins sisters. Nice work on throwing water over Nash, by the way. Sounds like he deserved it.”

“Just saw him, and he apologized, so we’re all good there,” Luna said, because he had to live in this town and she didn’t, so she wanted people to like him. Of course, he needed to work on his attitude for that to actually happen.

“Man’s like this grumpy hermit who struggles to say hello. Makes you wonder why?”

It did make her wonder why, but as Luna wasn’t going to be around to find out the answer, she didn’t think it was any of her business to continue with this discussion.

“Here it is, and it’s your size, I’m sure.” Mrs. L arrived holding the pink shirt.

Luna put it on, and Rory climbed down her ladder to take the picture outside.

“See you Saturday then, Luna,” Rory said as she prepared to leave.

“Saturday?”

“My bachelorette party. Charlie’s coming, and that means you’re invited too. It’ll be fun.” With those words, Rory walked back inside the shop, leaving Luna in a pink shirt with diamantes and plenty of thoughts tumbling around inside her head.

“Best just to roll with it,” she said, walking to her car. This entire day had been weird, so she’d put it down to anomaly and move on.

That kiss may take a bit of time to forget, but she would.

Did she want to go to a bachelorette party? Strangely, she found she did.
