And just like that all fight left her.
“All right, but just for tonight, and I’m taking my car.”
He leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. “Fine.”
He watched as she packed a bag. When she was ready, he took it, and she slung her laptop case over her shoulder and grabbed her handbag. They then left and headed to the elevator.
“I pushed the buttons on each floor as I passed,” Nash said conversationally as the door opened.
“That’s sneaky.” Luna leaned her head back on the wall. “And clever actually.”
“I can be clever when required.” He moved into her body. Bracing his hands on either side of her head, he looked down at her. “Tired?”
“Exhausted.”
“I won’t jump you then.” He kissed her. Slow and deep, it stirred Luna in ways she really wished it wouldn’t.
She came off the wall and wrapped an arm around his neck. Her bag hit the floor, and he pulled her into his body. She lost the ability to think and only felt. This man made her feel so good. Protected, strong, and so many other things.
“Thanks for the pictures. Everyone will love seeing that you have a new man in your life.”
Nash turned, putting her behind him. She stepped out and saw Simon holding his camera.
“One wonders when my continually rejecting you will sink in,” Luna said the thin thread that was holding her anger had snapped. “Go away, Simon and find someone else to harass.”
“By morning the world will know all about Nash Winter.” Simon looked smug.
“Don’t,” Luna said as she felt Nash tense, ready to pounce.
“You,” Nash said though gritted teeth, “better get the fuck out of my way before I make you.”
Whatever Simon saw in Nash’s face had him moving. In seconds he was gone, taking the stairs up.
“Let’s go.” He picked up her bag and then took her hand.
“Everything okay?” Ted wandered in with Mandy.
“Sure.”
“That asshole Simon Nicks is here and taking pictures of Luna,” Nash snarled.
“And his lovely friend Olivia Tyler.” Mandy sighed. “The woman has been throwing around orders since she arrived.”
“They checked in under fake names, and we thought they’d be good for business. But now I think they’ll need to go.”
“Don’t do that for me, Ted. Really, it’s okay,” Luna said.
“I don’t think we allow photos to be taken in here,” Ted said, moving behind the desk. He then picked up the phone and put it to his ear.
“What is he doing?” Luna asked Mandy.
“What he does best,” she replied.
“Is this Mr. Nicks?” Ted said. “Excellent. I’ve had a complaint that you are hassling my guests and taking pictures. If this continues, I will have to tell you to leave. I hope that is clear, Mr. Nicks.”
Luna wished she could hear what Simon was saying.
“I understand what you do and are, Mr. Nicks, but rules are rules, and they are put in place for the more important guests we accommodate at the Lodge.” Ted winked at Luna. “Yes, I can see how you’d think you and Ms. Tyler are important. However, we’ve had royalty here, and former presidents. You can see how I struggle to put them in the same category as yourself and a social media influencer.”
