Chapter 3
Sophia
Sitting in the passenger seat of his car on our way to his place I was so nervous I feared I was going to vomit. The chitchat at the club hadn’t been all that productive. It was just too busy and there was too much going on. Not to mention my nerves was getting to me. When he suggested that we get out of there to find a better place to talk I blurted that we should try his place. For a moment I feared I’d be rejected, but he downed the rest of his beer, took my hand and led me from the club. I didn’t even have time to tell the girls I was leaving, although I’d seen their eyes on us the entire time so I was sure they knew where we were headed without me giving them the heads up.
What if he’s a psycho killer, a voice in the back of my head chimed in.
I scoffed at the voice. If he was, I’d be the last person he killed before my family got hold of him and had him ripped apart limb by limb. Mind you, it was little consolation if I was dead.
The car slowed and turned into a parking lot and then to the parking garage under the apartment building. A few minutes later he was parking in his designated spot and opening the door for me to get out.
Taking his hand in mine I allowed him to assist me out of the car. Despite the nervousness I was feeling inside, the feel of his larger hand surrounding mine, gave me a sense of calm that felt natural and right. By the time we entered his apartment the feeling of nervousness within me had calmed and excitement over what could happen next took over.
Slipping my shoes off and hanging my purse on the coat rack, I entered his place and was immediately impressed. It wasn’t huge, a couple of bedrooms with a small kitchen and living room, but it was furnished nicely with modern décor and an eye for detail that you’d expect from a professional decorator. I loved the contrast of white and black in the furniture. It gave off a fresh, hipster types of vibe.
“Did you do this all yourself? It doesn’t really give me the impression of a bachelor pad.”
He chuckled. “Yeah, I did. I have a touch of OCD. I like everything to be perfect and in place. It’s something I’m working on.”
Turning to face him, I grinned. “A perfectionist.” As my eyes swept the apartment there wasn’t a speck of dust to be seen. The place was eat off of the floor spotless.
“You could say that. I just like to take pride in what I have.” Turning from me he went to the fridge and opened it up. “Would you like something to drink?”
“Water would be fine for me.”
“Water coming up.” He pulled a bottle of beer and a bottle of water from the fridge, then turned back to me.
Just kiss him. Kiss him and the awkwardness would go away, I coached myself.
Closing the distance between us, I reached up and removed his glasses. Taking a step back, I grinned. “You look completely different without glasses. I mean, you look hot with them, but a different type of hot without them.”
Laughing, I saw a faint glow color his cheeks. “Well, thank you. So, I have a Superman and Clark Kent thing going on, you think?” Setting the two bottles on the counter, he took the glasses from me, put them on, and then whipped them back off, giving his eyebrows a little wiggle as he did.
Giggling, I nodded. “Yes, you do.” He was sweet and funny. And damn he was sexy. His shirt stretched across his toned chest. He definitely went to the gym.
“So now that we’re here, what would you like to do? I think I have Monopoly here somewhere.”
I wasn’t sure if he was joking or not, but by the grin on his face, I suspected he was. But there was an uncertainty in his eyes that told me he was covering his nervousness with humor and I appreciated it. Stepping closer to him, I slipped my hands up his chest, pressing myself against him and closing my eyes allowing the smell of his cologne to pull me in.
Damn, he smelled good.
Opening my eyes, I looked back up at him. The nervousness that was in his eyes had disappeared and it was replaced by a hunger that sent a thrill through me and encouraged me to be more brazen. As I pressed myself tight to him, he slipped his arms around me, pulling me tight so I could feel his rapidly thickening erection against my stomach.
Inhaling deeply, I moaned softly as I forced my reservations over what was about to happen from my mind so I could simply lose myself and enjoy the moment. I didn’t need to overthink this. All I needed to do was enjoy it.
Lifting me up, he placed me on the countertop. “I’m going to give you a chance to stop this before it gets out of hand.” He brushed the back of his hand against my cheek.
Closing my eyes, I savored the feeling of him touching me. His hand slid to the back of my head as he urged my lips down to his. When our lips touched, a shot of excitement raced through me that I hadn’t felt for years.
Grabbing my ass in his hands, he pulled me tight to him as I wrapped my legs around his waist. “Maybe I want this to get out of hand,” I whispered against his lips. There was a faint taste of beer on his lips as he nipped at my lower lip. Pulling back slightly I giggled and removed his glasses setting them on the counter behind me, before my lips came crashing down onto his, pressing myself tightly to him.
I moaned inviting his tongue in to meet mine. As our tongues danced, my hands explored the hard lines of muscle under the linen of his shirt. His kiss was leaving me light-headed and needy for more.
Suddenly his lips left mine and began to work their way down the side of my neck. I moaned softly, tilting my head to the side, allowing him better access to the sensitive flesh. My fingers fisting the material, longing to feel the heat of his bare skin against mine. My hands moved to the front of his shirt, quickly undoing the buttons, one by one then pushed the material aside giving my hands access to the hard lines of muscle underneath.
Once his mouth reached my shoulder, he lifted his head to look up and into my eyes. Lowering my head, I lightly kissed him. “You definitely do look like Superman now.” I pushed back admiring his thick chest and defined abdominals. “I don’t even think he looks as good as you do without a shirt.”
Zack laughed. “Like I said, I pull off Clark Kent well.”
