“What are you doing here, Hazel?” I asked her. The question had been burning on my tongue.

But it wasn’t Hazel that answered me, no it was the man at her side that was wearing a three-piece suit. “Well, do you think we could come inside? It's rather hot out here?”

Unfortunately, that was when Cam pulled up to the gate, and the gate was moved before anyone could call out not to open it.

And without waiting to be told that it was okay, the man in the three-piece suit grabbed Hazel’s hand and started to lead her forward, only to be stopped when Gage brought his hand up and growled, “No. This is their safe place. We can go to the diner in town to hear what you have to say.”

That made me love him even more. He was always saying things and yes, backing up his words with actions. What I wouldn’t give to have him alone so I could climb him like a spider monkey.

“That’s preposterous. We drove all this way. The least you can do is to be civilized.” The man spat out as he eyed the kuttes on the men and the property kuttes on June, Michelle, and Mackenzie.

Rounds of laughter bellowed from the men and giggles came from the women. “Man, we are an MC. We ain’t civilized.” Powers chuckled, who I had just realized had followed us as well.

Apparently, seeing that we weren’t budging, Hazel brought her manicured left hand to push her hair out of her face and that was when I noticed the glinting diamond ring on her finger, along with the wedding band. She was married? “It’s fine. Which diner?”

Gage growled, then said, “It’s called Marvelous Eats. Three blocks down on the right.”

And with that, he turned but guided me to his bike while he made sure to keep me in his embrace. Always protecting me.

“Oh, and bring my daughter,” Hazel snarled.

I froze in my tracks at that, causing Gage to bump into my back.

Turning my head to give her the evilest look I could muster, I said low, “You lost the right to call her your daughter when you decided you didn’t want her.”

And with that, I started moving toward Gage’s bike.

That was when I saw Powers, Heathen, Zeke, and Savage loaded up on their bikes to follow us.

Even though I was madder than a wet hen at her and the nerve of her, I had to smile at that.

When I had my helmet on, Gage turned his head as he started up his lady and kissed me hard. “She ain’t getting our daughter.” He said with an amount of vehemence I have never heard before.

When we arrived at the diner, we all walked in and went to a booth in the back, making sure that we had our backs to the wall.

Sitting on the inside of the booth, while they sat, I noticed Powers walking over to Rachel, the owner of the diner, and let her know what was going on.

After four waters were placed on our table, I nodded at Rachel and caught her subtle wink at me.

I looked at Hazel and asked, wanting to be the bigger person, “So, how have you been?”

But it wasn’t Hazel that answered me, no it was the man at her side who had done nothing but sneer at us, “She’s fine.”

Gage jerked his head at him and asked, “You going to let her talk or be an asshole?”

“Listen here you…” he sputtered.

Gage slammed his hand on the table and pointed at me, then at my sister. “This is between the two of them. You don’t like that, tough shit. I’ll have you removed if you can't keep your trap shut.”

The man obviously sensed this was a losing battle and wisely shut up. During their altercation, my eyes never left Hazel’s. “Sissy, how have you been?”

“I’ve been okay. When I left, I traveled around for a couple of years, trying to find my place and all that.”

“And you found it? I noticed that ring on your left hand.” I said with a small smile when all I wanted to do was glare at her and not be the bigger person. Oh, the frustration.

She lifted her hand and looked at her ring and then looked at my smaller yet perfect ring on my finger and the kutte on my back and smirked. Bitch, please. Money isn’t everything.

Okay, so nice gloves were off.
