“You know what I mean.” Meghan waved off Max’s complaint as if she was already used to his surliness.

Isaac sat in the empty chair next to Meghan, aware of how good she smelled, and the heat radiating from her knee to his, mere inches apart under the table. He was also aware he was staring at her but couldn’t seem to keep from it.

“We’re not going to be able to stay,” Kendall interrupted.

“No?” Isaac’s shoulders dropped. He would have liked to talk to Meghan a while longer. “What’s up?”

“Video conference call. What else?” His agent rolled her eyes. Isaac knew she wasn’t the least bit inconvenienced by working remote. Kendall loved her job as a talent agent. She might’ve left LA, but she hadn’t slowed down a bit. Once Max had asked her to move in with him, she’d left California as soon as possible.

Ah, love.

After the truth had come out about Max and Kendall being an actual couple, Isaac had blurted out the girlfriend “confession.” He’d had to tell the talk show host something after Max had burst onto the stage and claimed Kendall for himself. For a guy who shunned the spotlight, his brother had bathed in it for the woman he loved.

Isaac was happy for them. He’d have to be dead not to feel a tingle of warmth from their story.

“Do you mind taking a car back to the cabin?” Kendall asked Meghan.

“Not at all.” She smiled at Isaac. “If you don’t mind hanging out with a rabid superfan for a while?”

Hell, no, he didn’t mind. He spread his hands and grinned. “Rabid superfans are my specialty.”
