“You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I don’t want to share this life with anyone but you.” He kissed her, mainly to cover their asses, but the moment his lips touched hers, he forgot their audience. He’d been craving her since he dropped her off last night. Mmm. As delicious as he remembered.

He pulled away, stunned by the vulnerability in her eyes. And the uncertainty warring with it.

“Is that a yes?” impatient Cecil asked.

Isaac’s heart hit his throat. This was the first time he’d proposed—on camera or for real. As it was totally unrehearsed, he had no earthly clue what she would say.

“Y-yes.”

Phew.

“Great news!” Cecil was grinning, which was a little terrifying and definitely not something Isaac was accustomed to from the brusque older man. “I’m a sucker for engagements. Fans of the show will eat this up!” He slapped Isaac hard on the arm. “Nice work, Dunn.”

How about that, the man actually sounded sincere.

Meghan, having received the memo that they were improvising this scene, flashed Cecil a beaming smile and wrapped her arms around one of Isaac’s. “I suspected this was coming. He’s not as smooth at keeping secrets as he thinks.”

Good save, Squire.

“See you around set.” Cecil turned and lumbered toward the lobby.

“Sorry about that,” Isaac said once he was gone. “I panicked. He wasn’t buying my story and I thought we’d—”

“Isaac. I came here to talk. Find somewhere private. Right now.”

But before he could lead her off to talk privately—about what, he had no idea—his on-screen parents rounded the corner and let out twin gasps of delight.

“Is this her?” Merilyn squealed.

“It has to be her,” Richard sort of echoed.

“Yeah.” Isaac noted his betrothed had gone rigid against him. “This is Meghan.”
