She holds up her arm. “I have goose bumps when I think about finding him.”

“Do you want me to do the post for you?”

“No, that’s okay. I’ll do it.” She picks up her phone, opens the Facebook app and starts typing. “I just remembered something else. My mother told me about meeting his sister, Jessica, who was visiting when they met.”

“Add that. Every detail helps.”

“I can’t believe I’m actually doing this,” she says with a nervous laugh.

“I think it’s awesome. I hope you find him and that he’s thrilled to know he has a daughter and grandson. Anyone would be thrilled to have you two in their lives.”

“Thank you for that and for encouraging me to do this. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, but life got in the way.” She types up the post and then hands the phone to me. “Did I spell everything right?”

I read through the post, which is almost exactly what I suggested she write. “Looks perfect to me.” I hand the phone back to her.

She holds it for a long moment before she moves her thumb to press the Post button. Then she blows out a deep breath. “Well, here we go.”

“Here we go. Post it to Instagram and Twitter, too, if you have that.”

“I do.”

She makes the other posts and then tosses her phone aside. “How am I supposed to function with that out there?”

Smiling, I lean in to kiss her. “Let social media do its thing while you do yours. If nothing comes of the posts, I have a friend who does some private investigation work for lawyers here in town. I’ll ask him to look into it for you.”

“In case I haven’t told you, you’re the best.”

“You really think so?”

“I really do. Your first thoughts are always, ‘How can I make things easier for Sofia and Mateo? How can I keep them safe? How can I help them?’ I’ve never known anyone like you, except for your grandmothers and the rest of your family. That’s where you get it.”

“I’m not sure anyone has ever looked at me that way before.”

“I see you. I see your character. I see the guy who mowed his neighbors’ lawn after being up all night worrying about his brother. I see that guy, and I like what I see.”

“Thank you.”

“Please don’t thank me. You’ve done so much for me.”

“We’ve done a lot for each other.”

“If you say so.”

“I do. What you just said… You have no idea how much that means to me. Most people see the less flattering parts of my personality. And I admit I deserve criticism for how I’ve behaved in the past. Being with you and Mateo… You make me want to be worthy of you.”

“You’re incredibly worthy of us.”

Her gaze shifts to my lips, and just that quickly, I’m hard for her. “About those things you need to do today…”

She continues to stare at my mouth. “What about them?”

“Will they keep for a little while?”

“I suppose. I just need to pack some more clothes and then do laundry at your house. Why?”

“I was thinking we’ve got the place all to ourselves and nowhere to be until it’s time to pick up Mateo.”

“And what would you like to do with all this time we have before we pick up Mateo?”
