Chapter 4: Gareth
This was the third time I was going through the dossier. I couldn't stop thinking about last night, I couldn't stop thinking about Becca. I would have never expected to feel this way about an employee but after last night, I realized that we had so much in common. She was such a kind and thoughtful soul. She was full of light and laughter. I could talk and laugh with her all day. I glanced at my phone for the umpteenth time that morning, I was itching to call or text her.
"Get yourself together, Gareth." I whispered to myself. We were going to see each other in twenty minutes so why was I so eager to hear from her? There was definitely something about Becca, something that made me crave her presence. I decided that after the meeting today I was going to ask her out to a friendly dinner. I really wanted to spend more time with her.
Time moved slowly but eventually it was time to meet up with Becca for the meeting. She was already waiting at my door when I stepped out and that made me happy. I was glad to see her and from her smile, I could tell that she was glad to see me too. She looked as beautiful as always with her hair pulled up at the back of her head in a tight bun. A part of me wished that it was let down so that it cascaded down over her shoulders. I always imagined myself running my hands through her hair.
The meeting went very smoothly, and we were very close to closing the deal.
I asked Becca for dinner, and she accepted. We agreed to meet at reception when it was time and I could hardly wait.
"You look absolutely stunning," I blurted out when I set my eyes on her. She was wearing a black silk dress with a matching bag and heels with her hair in a low ponytail that cascaded down her back in curls. She looked like a goddess descended from heaven.
"Thank you," she said, blushing. She looked so adorable when she blushed.
"We're going to the Top Of The Tower," I said with a smile. I desperately wanted to impress her , and I didn't know why. I wanted to see the excitement in her eyes as we entered the restaurant. I wanted to see her smile.
When we got there, we were led to our table that was right next to the window and from where you could see the whole city. It was beautiful. London was beautiful.
As we sat down, the sun was setting. Orange light filtered through the glass giving the room an eerie glow. The city buildings stood tall and dignified as they cast shadows on each other. Slowly the shadows faded into each other covering the city in darkness. The streets lit up so that London looked no different from the starry skies. The lights of London twinkled, along with the stars. It looked like we were floating in space, away from earth and surrounded by nothing but the stars.
"Wow," Becca said, looking outside as the whole room began to rotate slowly. The waiters had brought our food, but the scenery was too beautiful to be concerned about food. "It's beautiful," she continued.
"Yes, you really are," I said looking at her. She turned to look at me. I stared deep into her eyes, her beautiful green eyes that made emeralds ale in comparison. Before we knew it, we started moving closer to each other; closer and closer until our lips were a hair's breadth away from each other.
I wanted to kiss her so badly, but I wasn't sure it was what she wanted. I hesitated, looking deep into her eyes and letting my doubt show. She lifted my hands slowly and placed my palm on her face, she then leaned in so that our lips touched briefly. Our lips brushed against each other, sending electric shocks down my spine. It was just a taste, but it wasn't enough for me. I could smell strawberries, but I wanted to taste them too.
I leaned in this time, deepening the kiss. She tasted amazing and her lips were soft and supple like the inside of a rose. They were plump and eager to explore every inch of my mouth and so was I. I felt a tingle in my pants and pulled away, remembering we were in a public place. I pecked her on the lips so she wouldn't have the wrong idea.
"Let's eat, shall we?"
