Chapter Eight
Ashley had drifted off to sleep with her arm draped over Carla’s stomach. She hadn’t noticed what time it was, and she’d lost track of the amount of times Carla had made her come.
Ashley had no intention of sneaking away in the middle of the night this time. She let herself fall asleep, completely satisfied, happier than she’d ever been, still in awe of the way her evening had unfolded.
And that feeling was still there the next morning, when the sunlight started steaming through the crack in the curtains. Ashley knew exactly where she was, and she was glad to see that Carla was still in bed beside her.
Ashley’s heart swelled at the sight of Carla lying beside her on her back, her dark hair disheveled, her arm thrown above her head.
Ashley had felt it last night, some kind of a shift, from an innocent crush to something so much more, but this just cemented it.
Ashley had never felt this content, this… She swallowed. God, she was in love with Carla. Ashley might as well admit it to herself.
Somehow, she had let this crush get out of hand.
Ashley was head over heels.
She closed her eyes as she shifted onto her back, unsure of how to even feel about that.
It was exhilarating yet terrifying, because she had no idea what Carla would be like this morning.
Would Carla say that last night was it? That they couldn’t see each other again? Or would Carla be open to seeing what this was?
Ashley honestly had no idea which way it would go. As amazing as last night had been, there was every chance that Carla would draw that line. That she couldn’t be seen with a student. That last night had just been a slip. Something that shouldn’t have happened.
“Hey,” Carla said, her voice a little rough.
Ashley turned to meet her tired eyes. Wow, she was stunning. That was all that Ashley could think in that moment.
“Hey,” Ashley said softly.
“Did you sleep okay?”
“Hmm. I was so tired.”
“Do you have anywhere you need to be?” Carla asked, stretching her hands above her head before stifling a yawn.
“No.” Even if Ashley did have plans, she’d cancel them in a heartbeat if she thought she could spend more time with Carla.
“I was thinking we could have some breakfast… And talk?”
Ashley didn’t miss the way Carla had hesitated. Was that a sign that Carla was going to let her down easy?
“Yeah,” Ashley said, doing her best to sound confident, like she had nothing to worry about. “Sure.”
“Okay.” Carla flashed her a smile as she got out of bed.
