A hand appears in front of my face. I blink and snatch my eyes away from Reed and Jamison and look back at my friends. All three are looking at me curiously. When their eyes follow to where I was looking then glance back at me, I know I’m in trouble.
“Please tell me you’re finally banging Mr. Hot or Mr. Sexy?” Camila asks.
My brows go up. “Mr. Hot and Mr. Sexy?”
She nods with a grin. “That’s what I always call them in my head.” She props her elbows on the table and leans across it. “Now answer my question.”
My face flames, and I squirm in my seat.
Her grin is back, except it’s bigger. “No need to answer. Your face says it all.”
“You go girl!” Taylor holds her hand up for a high five. When I don’t slap my hand with hers, she grabs it and does it for me. “It’s about time. I’ve been waiting for this to happen since high school.”
“Seriously?” I ask incredulously.
“Hell yes,” Camila answers for her. “There was a bet going on back then on who you would do first.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me. There’s no way there was a bet on who I would sleep with, and I didn’t hear about it.”
It makes me wonder if Reed or Jamison knew of this bet.
“Oh, there most certainly was. I think the pool got up to over a grand.”
I shake my head. “That’s crazy.”
Camila shrugs. “That’s teenagers for you.”
“Alright, I’m dying of suspense here.” I switch my gaze to Charlotte, who looks entirely way too interested. “Which one is the lucky guy?”
Unable to look at them for fear of them seeing the truth, I dart my gaze around the room. It’s not that I’m ashamed, or that I think they would judge me for sleeping with two men at the same time, one being my step-brother. I’m just not ready to admit what happened when I don’t even know what will become of Jamison, Reed, and my relationship.
“Oh my God!” Camila screeches way too loudly. I jerk my eyes to her. Her hand is covering her mouth, but she drops it to practically shout, “Both?”
I lean across the table, not at all amused she guessed correctly. “Damn it, Cam, keep it down.”
Her grin takes up her whole face and she claps her hands together. “Oh, this is so good.” Thankfully she drops her voice several octaves.
“Holy crap, girl,” Taylor says, quieter than her sister. “You’re really banging them both?”
I look around the room, already knowing no one is sitting near us, but making sure no one is walking by.
I keep my mouth shut and glance over at the guys. They’re still in the same spots as before, but both are wearing grins, no doubt knowing what we’re discussing. I look back at my friends.
Charlotte wiggles her fingers in a gimme gesture. “Details, stat.”
I huff out a resigned breath. “Yes, I slept with them both,” I say quietly. “No, I’m not giving any details.”
“You’re no fun.” Camila pouts.
“Get over it.”
“At least tell us which is better.” This comes from Taylor. “My money is on Jamison. He’s got that brooding thing down pat. I heard the brooding kind is more intense between the sheets.”
“I’d put my money on Reed,” Camila inserts. “With his playful attitude, I bet he’s fun in bed. What about you, Charlotte?”
“I don’t know. I can see the appeal to both. Thankfully, I have both with Bryan.” Charlotte finishes with a saucy grin and a wink.
Bryan Erikson is Charlotte’s fiancê. He was her therapist before they got together.
“Neither,” I admit, interrupting their conversation on the merits of what kind of man is better at sex.
The crestfallen look on their faces almost has me laughing.
“Really?” Camila says, her smile turning into a frown. “How disappointing.”
My lips twitch as I fight back a smile. “Neither of them can compare to other men I’ve been with, because they’re so much better.”
Their crestfallen looks are replaced with knowing smiles.
“Now that’s what I’m talking about,” Camila states.
I shake my head with a little laugh. My expression sobers after a moment.
“There’s no way it can continue though,” I tell my friends.
“Why the hell not?” Taylor demands.
“Because Jamison is my step-brother. You and Camila know my mom. She’ll freak out.”
Charlotte’s only been living in Silver Falls for a few years, so she’s only met my mom a couple of times. I’ve been friends with Camila and Taylor since middle school.
“I think you’d be surprised at your mom’s reaction.”
I frown at Camila. “Why do you say that?”
“Because everyone in Silver Falls has seen the way the three of you look at each other. I think you guys are the only ones who don’t see it.”
Do people really see something I’ve never seen before?
“Okay. And?”
