I could open my legs to him but keep my heart closed. He could still light a fire in me, even if it would never warm me like it used to.


It would be one small bit of comfort.


Gavril moved over top of me, teasing me with his lips until I opened my mouth for him, coaxing my tongue with his. The kiss was slow and full of promise. I lost myself in it, forcing everything out of my mind except what we were doing right then.


We could pretend.


His hand slipped under my shirt, and I didn’t stop him. My body arched into his touch.


Gavril broke our kiss long enough for me to strip off my T-shirt and throw it on the floor, his hands everywhere on my body as if he couldn’t get enough.


I tried to touch him as well, running my fingers along his broad shoulders, then to his pec muscles where they rippled with movement.


I could spend days studying Gavril’s body and never find all the places.


“I want you,” he growled as he peppered kisses along my bare shoulder.


I wasn’t about to tell him no. He had already clearly made it known that he owned me. Everything I had was because of him and his illegal dealings


And now I couldn’t even sneeze without someone informing him of it.


Pretend. Just pretend.


“Then take me,” I said, and I pulled him closer.


He could have my body.


But not my heart.
