I slam into the door as Ashton relays it to me, and I fumble to enter the numbers as I hear my name being called. “Come on, come on,” I grumble as my legs shake.
“What’s happening, Hadley?” The men are at the end of the block just as the door opens. Shots are fired as I collapse inside, kicking it shut.
“I’m in. Tell Luther to lock it down.” My words are slurred, but I can see the gates closing over the windows and hear the doors lock. They won’t get me now.
“Hads.” Ashton’s single word is filled with so much pain.
“I’m inside. I’m safe. But hurry,” I gasp, pressing a hand to my side. “They shot me.” I can feel blood soak under me as the men outside continue to bang on the door. Firing at the windows.
They won’t get in, but honestly, now I’m worried I won’t be getting out.
