“Take a seat at the table, sweetheart. The food should be out in a sec,” he growls even as those blue eyes flash.
I do as I’m told, but I make sure I have a good view of my boyfriend as he works in the kitchen. We live together in my cottage now, but Benning Motors is doing really well, so we’re on the market for a bigger place so that the baby will have plenty of room to play.
Meanwhile, Jason comes over with a big, steaming bowl of soup and places it in front of me before grabbing himself a serving and taking a seat across the table.
“How’s Janelle doing, sweetheart? Did you have a nice time today?”
I giggle.
“She’s doing great. Did I tell you she’s dating three men at once? I can barely keep up to be honest, and I don’t know how she does it.”
Jason nods but then decides to help me to a big mouthful of noodles, carrots, and chicken.
“Open wide,” he commands.
“You spoil me!” I say, laughing as he feeds me. “Eat your own soup, big guy! But thank you for cooking because this tastes amazing.”
He grins, still watching as I swallow my soup.
“No problem, honey. You know I love cooking for you and the baby. But yeah, so Janelle has three boyfriends? That sounds exhausting.”
I giggle.
“Well, I don’t know if they’re boyfriends, so to say. In fact, I’d say they’re definitely not and these are strictly hook-ups. But hell, why not? She’s young, single, and living it up, so she should get with as many guys as she wants.”
Jason shakes his head.
“Man, dating is a shitshow these days, isn’t it?”
I laugh.
“Yeah, and I’m so glad I’m off the market. Although I do have to say that I love hearing about her life. Oh wait, Janelle also wants to know what we’re naming the baby. Have you thought about it more?”
We’ve since discovered we’re having a son, and Jason thinks for a second before shaking his head. “You choose, sweetheart. I’ll be happy with whatever you like.”
“How about Dream? It seems only fitting, considering how he was conceived.”
Jason chuckles with amusement.
“Okay, maybe not anything. We can’t name our son Dream because he’ll be bullied his whole life. That’s a girl’s name!”
I nod, and then grin. “Okay, good point.”
But then Jason has a suggestion. “What about Abraham? God came to Abraham in a dream, so it’s fitting without being too on the nose.”
“Oh, that’s perfect! We could call him Abe, just like Abraham Lincoln too. I love it!”
Jason leans over to kiss me, then leans down to press a reverent kiss to my belly too.
“It’s perfect,” he growls. “Welcome, son.”
I sigh while stroking his black hair, blissed out beyond belief. “We’re perfect as a family, Jason. I love you, and I can’t wait for little Abe to make his appearance.” Then, I sigh with happiness as Jason kisses me again because this is the life. Maybe this man came to me in my dreams, which were revealed to be a reality almost too much to handle. But I did handle it, and I’m glad because Jason Benning is everything to me now. He’s taught me to trust again and given me a life, a home, a baby, and most of all, his love
