“If you just take care of your body, you can unlock so many hidden levels to your physical energy. If you’re interested in achieving your best, let me tell you about this yoni tea. I have an amazing opportunity for a self-starter on my team if you’re interesting in unlocking the full power of your feminine energy.”

Of course. In a room full of people I manage to pick the ringleader of an MLM scam.

“Thanks but my yoni is perfectly fine. And feminine.”

I leave my empty plate on one of the standing tables and search the room for Ariana. There’s no way this is going to work for another hour

. I might as well just admit to her that I failed and go home. Just then a handsome man with dark hair turns around and I stop in my tracks. It’s the guy from the wedding. The one who had to give me the Heimlich.

Nope. Nope. Nope.

I immediately turn in the other direction but have to stop again when I notice Law talking to a group of men a few feet away. Anxious, I glance to the left but all I can see is yoni-health dude coming my way again.

A panicked giggle rises in the back of my throat. It’s raining men. Except it’s all the men I don’t want to see.

I walk toward the front of the restaurant. The closet that Ariana and I were in before is still unmanned so I send up a prayer that the restaurant didn’t feel the need to hire a coat check for this event. I need a place to hide out.

With the door partially open there’s just enough light for me to see so I don’t crash into the rack of coats in the middle of the room. Thumbing through the rack, I see a Burberry trench, a Gucci coat and some kind of wrap that has Halston sewn into the lining. Wow. Were all these items really left behind by patrons of the restaurant? I can’t imagine having so much money you don’t care about leaving your designer coat behind.

As I move the items around, I notice the room extends quite a bit behind the rack. If I push the coats to the left and right there will be enough space for me to step through to the other side. After sliding the coats back in place, no one will be able to see I’m there. Which is perfect in case yoni-dude comes looking in here.

Still holding the Gucci coat, I shove the others out of the way and tentatively step through. A sharp tug pulls at my scalp.

“Ouch!”

I reach up and feel several strands of my hair caught on a zipper. Twisting slightly I manage to pull the lock of hair free and then almost trip over the metal rung at the bottom of the rack. I place the Gucci coat back and pull the others in place around it to close the gap.

Then I turn around and jump so high I almost hit the ceiling.

“What are you doing in here?”

Seth Barrington looks up from his phone and shrugs. He’s sitting on a small stool in the corner and looks like he’s been here for a while.

“Probably the same thing you’re doing in here.”

I narrow my eyes. “This is starting to feel deliberate.”

“Well, in my defense, I was here first this time.”

“Touché.”

My sigh seems loud in the room. It’s more than a little awkward standing in such a confined space but Seth shows no signs of moving and I’m definitely not leaving.

“I’m hiding,” I blurt out.

Instantly his face changes. “Is someone bothering you? Because if they are, let me know.”

“No. Not like that. I’m hiding from a handsome man. And he’s not the one bothering me anyway. That’s another guy.”

His brows lift. “Sounds complicated.”

“You have no idea. Anyway, the handsome guy, not the other guy… well, actually they’re both handsome.”

Seth laughs softly. “I’m going to need a flow chart to follow this story.”

Now I’m laughing, too. “The first handsome guy I don’t really know that well. But the last time he saw me I was choking on something.”

Seth’s eyes glint. “Is that right?”
