“Brand Danner, you better take damn good care of my baby! And my baby’s baby too!” my mom warns before blowing her nose into her tissue. I giggle as Brand tries to stifle a laugh of his own.
“Of course I will, Sheena,” he growls before slipping a big arm around my waist. “There’s no need to worry. Janie and your grandson or granddaughter will have everything that they need and want, and more. I swear it.”
It’s true too because Brand and I just moved into a new house a few weeks ago. He insisted that we required more space for our family, but I was worried at first. I didn’t want him blowing through his savings so quickly with the down payment, but he surprised me with the news that he had already found a new job and that there was still plenty in the bank.
After all, Brand’s started his own logistics company and things are already going well. They just got a huge order from Amazon, and I know my fiancé’s looking to hire asap to meet the demand. He’s going to be a success and my heart blooms as I stare at his handsome features.
But then Emory comes bustling inside again.
“You guys, come on!” she exclaims. “The officiant just called your names.”
With that, we hurry into a small adjoining chamber, and the ceremony begins. It’s kind of a blur for me because I’m so happy, and yet at the same time, I feel as if I’ll remember everything vividly when I look back on it.
Brand is the first to say his vows, and I can tell that he’s nervous by the way he stumbles over his words occasionally. I love seeing the big man nervous because most of the time, he’s supremely self-confident. It’s adorable and I love him even more for it.
Plus, when it comes time for me to say my own vows, I get so choked up that I can hardly get the words out. I have to pause every couple of seconds to let out a sob, and it must be utterly comical. I don’t know if it’s because I’m so happy and thankful to be marrying the man of my dreams, or if it’s because of the pregnancy hormones. Probably both, come to think of it.
But although neither of us could deliver our vows all that clearly, we could both manage to say the most important words without fear or hesitation: I love you.
Finally, it’s done and the officiant proclaims us man and wife. Brand leans forward to seize my lips with his own as our friends and family clap, cheering us on.
But the world disappears as Brand encircles me with those strong arms.
“I adore you so much, Janie,” he growls for my ears only. “I’m so ready to build a life with you, honey. You are my everything.”
My heart melts as I stare into those blue eyes.
“And you are my everything as well, Brand Danner,” I whisper in return. “I love you too.”
With that, our lips meet again as the next chapter of our lives unfolds. After all, we never expected this to happen, but now with the gorgeous man at my side, I know I have everything I could possibly want, need, and desire in life.
