The debacle to that is the income. It would be based on how hard you work. Sometimes I find that thought more stressful than just holding down a regular job. “I’m not sure I’d want all that pressure on my shoulders. Running a business from scratch could be very difficult, but invigorating if it went well.”

The discussion is progressing and doesn’t seem awkward like other dates. It is an appreciable change of pace to not have to force it, and it just comes naturally between the two of us.

We obtain our drinks and chat about our jobs a bit more. No need to dive into the deep stuff just yet. It isn’t like I can just come out and ask her if she wants kids. I need to play it cool, be myself, and see where the night takes us.

One thing I know for certain, she is 100% more my type than Leslie.

“So, not to be too forward, but why is a guy like you on an online dating website? It doesn’t seem like you would have an issue getting girls,” she says, peering around at the prying eyes.

“I’d suggest the same. Every man turned their head when you strolled through the bar.”

If this date results in anything, honesty plays a vast part. Harper is a down-to-earth girl, and from what I know about her so far, I can see us getting along very well. There are many things I note about her just from observing, like her tell is tucking her hair behind her ear, and she isn’t high maintenance. Even though the dress she’s wearing probably cost a pretty penny, her hair is natural, nails aren’t fake, and again minimal makeup. That says a lot about a woman.

“The genuine answer is the women in Grapevine don’t seem to want something real. Just sex.”

“And you thought you’d find something real on the app?” she chuckles, and informs me about a couple of disastrous dates she has been on recently.

“Well, looks like we’ve both had the same luck. Maybe tonight’s our night,” I suggest, lifting my bottle to hers. “Here’s to discovering something real.”
