“I can hear the wheel in your head catching fire. Down that beer, go home, and get some sleep. Wake up tomorrow refreshed and ready to go,” Aiden says.

I do just that, the beer bottle barely making a sound as it hits the table. My eyes are red, my mind is mush, just ready to be in my own bed again.

“Talk to ya tomorrow or something,” I say, walking toward the exit ready for my head to hit the pillow.

Thankfully, home is only about five-minutes away, and the thought of sleeping in my bed, with the covers wrapped around me, almost put me to sleep while driving.

When I get home, and lay in bed, I feel the need to check on Tessa. This isn’t just impacting my relationship but hers as well. She was Tessa’s only friend and now she has no one.

Me: How are you holding up with all this?

I lay on my back with my phone above my face, waiting for her to text back, when it falls and thud. Fuck! I rub my forehead and roll over on my stomach.

Tessa: Not gonna lie. Ready to have my Harper back. It’s hard not being able to talk to her about stuff because she doesn’t even know me. Our friendship doesn’t exist to her. You think she will remember us?

Me: I hope so. All we can do is be there. See ya tomorrow. Get some rest.
