Me: I’m gonna go home and pack a bag. I’ll be ready when you get off.

Going home by myself is a little nerve racking, but I can’t go through life being scared. Things happen to innocent people all the time, and I just have to deal with it.

I grab my stuff and head out to the parking lot, the sun already almost gone, and head home.

When I get on my street, my eyes peer around, looking for anything suspicious, before I pull into my driveway, and take a deep breath. It’ll be okay. Liam will be here in an hour and then we will go to his house.

I grab my purse, head to the door, and go inside. Usually, the first thing I do when I get home is pour a glass of wine, take off my heels, and sit on the couch, but not tonight. All I’m worried about is getting the hell out of here.

My closet is all picked up and I grab the small suitcase from the back and open it up on my bed. I start throwing stuff inside, and after about ten minutes, I’ve gotten everything packed for the next week.

I pull out my phone and text him.

Me: I’m all packed and ready to go. Still getting off soon?

I set my phone down on the bed, and go to the kitchen to get a glass of wine to ease the tension in my body. Just a little while longer and then you won’t have to be here.

I take a sip, and then a hand comes around and covers my mouth, shielding the gut wrenching scream coming from me. They’re here.
