Chapter Seventeen
Lacey heard the men’s voices, but she didn’t care at that moment because Cason was cuddling her.
She roused slowly.
“There she is. Good morning, honey.”
She reached up and touched his chin. “Scratchy.”
He chuckled. “Yeah, I didn’t get a chance to shave yet. We’ve got some men here. We’re working on your situation.”
She rubbed her eyes before she looked around the room. Seven pairs of eyes were on her, making her stiffen. When she looked down at herself and saw that she was wearing just her nightgown, she turned to Cason.
“I’m not dressed,” she hissed.
He chuckled. “I know. You’re covered enough, though.”
She lifted up enough to whisper in his ear. “But you can see my nipples through this.”
He cupped her face. “I know, baby. If I cared if these guys saw my woman’s nipples, I would have taken you back to the bedroom.”
She studied his expression. “You won’t make me go naked in front of them, will you?”
“I’m not going to say no because there are different circumstances you might be undressed in front of some people, but I know you’re not ready for it.”
Oh, thank God. She really wasn’t, she thought. Not now, maybe never.
He stood with her in his arms. “I’m going to go get her dressed, and then we’ll be right back.”
She wrapped her arms around his neck. “Have I said good morning to you yet?”
He grinned. “No, you told me I was scratchy.”
She giggled and rubbed her fingers over his cheek. “Well, you are.”
He growled playfully after the bedroom door was closed and started kissing her face, neck, and lips.
She squealed a few times when it felt pokey. When he finally stopped, her face felt like it was sunburnt.
He grinned and set her down on her feet. “Do you need to use the restroom, baby?”
She shook her head.
“Okay, I’m going to put you in jeans and a t-shirt today.”
She didn’t care as long as she was dressed.
“Take the nightgown off. I’ll be right back.”
After he had her dressed, Cason held her hand as they walked down the hallway. When everyone turned her way, she felt herself blush.
“For everyone who doesn’t know this sweet girl, her name is Lacey, and she’s the one we’re trying to help. Say hi, baby.”
She glanced up at Cason and then back to the table full of men. “Good morning.”
Cason squeezed her hand to show her how pleased he was, and then she felt him kiss the top of her head.
“Go ahead and sit in the empty seat. I’ll be right back with your juice, and then I’ll introduce you when I get back.”
One of the men she didn’t know tapped the empty chair. “Come here, honey.”
She looked over her shoulder and then turned and went and sat down. When she glanced up again, they were all looking at her.
She touched her face. “What, do I have something on my face?”
“Besides the whisker burns, no.”
She gasped and put her hands to her face. “You can actually see it?”
The men grinned.
Cason came back, set down her glass, and lifted her into his arms before he sat.
“Drink your juice while I introduce them.”
He went around the table. “You know Brett, Eli, Travis, and Cooper. This one to my right is my partner Devon. And the other two are Jonah and Dustin. Devon’s brother was in the military with them.”
She nodded and took a drink.
