Chapter Five

Sienna did feel peace. Even with an achy ass, she had calmed enough to feel steady. She’d never felt anything as painful and wonderful as what Kane did to her. She wanted it to happen again, and that confused the hell out of her. Who’d have thought she would like to be spanked? And by a guy she didn’t know.

She knew it helped tremendously that Noah trusted him, so she most likely could, too, but there was still a lot she had to learn about him before she gave him all her faith.

At camp, she remembered Riley talking about spankings often, but she always thought the woman was crazy. Now she understood.

Kane cleared his throat, and it made her turn her head.

“Tell us about what’s going on with you. What are you afraid of?”

Sienna sighed and rested against the chair. There was no way she was going to get out of the house without telling them. Why worry, she thought. She knew they’d probably throw her out because she might have brought trouble to their door.

“My mom and I lived on the poor side of the south part of Kansas City. The Trey Crips gang controls our neighborhood. They aren’t the biggest gang in Kansas City, but they are dangerous. I grew up in the area, and I’ve never known anything else.”

“My mom had a bad habit of drug use, so I was basically the parent. I grew up being told my uncle Hector protected us. No one messed with us, which I’m grateful for. My mom told me shortly before she died that he wasn’t really my uncle. She also believed he was going to take me for himself after she died.”

Sienna looked down at her hands in her lap, thankful she was away from the only home she’d had.

If it hadn’t been for her uncle, or who she thought was her uncle, she would have been raped and probably died a long time ago. But since her uncle was the head of the neighborhood gang, people knew to leave her and her mother alone.

Now with her mother was gone, there was nothing left for her in the only place she’d known since she’d been born. The place she’d spent every night of her life except for a few precious summers when she was able to go to a camp miles away.

“As I got older, Hector spent more time with us, and his touches got bolder. I didn’t think anything of them until my mom told me. I started planning and squirreling away money. The day after we buried her, I went to work and never went home. I left a note for him, telling him a made-up story that I went away with a man, and we were going to California. I just wanted to throw him off for a while.”

“I knew he was coming for me, probably that very day. I took a few clothes, money, and pictures, and that’s it. I rode in several taxis and walked around until I got on a bus. I did everything I could to keep him from finding me, but I know him. If he’s been planning on me becoming his woman, he won’t stop until he finds me, and that’s why I need to move on.”

Everyone was quiet for a moment.

Kane got her attention. “I used to work with gangs in the Chicago area. I’ll find out everything I can about him. You’ll stay with me, and I’ll protect you…”

She shook her head. “No, I won’t put you in danger.”

“It’s non-negotiable, baby. You can’t do this on your own.”

“But what if something happens to you? I’d never forgive myself.”

He cupped her cheek in his hand. “Nothing is going to happen. I’m part owner of a security business. We do this stuff for a living. All you have to do is put your trust in me.”

“Are you sure this guy wants you for his woman?” Noah asked.

She nodded. “I heard a few guys talking after the funeral. They didn’t know I was close. I’d always wondered why no man ever looked at me or tried to talk to me. They said Hector killed a few guys who tried to talk to me. One just smiled at me, and he died. They also said Hector had been waiting to take my cherry for years.” She felt a blush overtake her face. “The only reason he left me alone for as long as he did was because my mom was still alive, and he knew I wanted to be with her.”

Her stomach tightened at the thought of that man’s hand on her. “He’s over twice my age. The fact he’s still alive and in his forties tells you about how smart and strong he is. Nearly everyone else in the gang dies or is in prison.”

“Fuck,” Kane cursed. “He won’t lay a finger on you.”

She’d had no one else in her life who made her feel safe and cared for, and she was quickly becoming used to the idea of being with Kane. For some reason, he made her feel safe, which was ridiculous since she just met him and he’d spanked her. Deep down, she didn’t want to leave his side.

“What do you think, Kane?” Noah asked.

“She needs to go with me. The building I live in and work in is very safe and secure. I’ll make sure our whole staff knows about what’s going on.”

“Are you okay with this, Sienna?” Riley asked.

She shrugged. “I didn’t plan on putting this on your shoulders, and I feel guilty. I should have never come here.”

Riley rushed to her, rested on her knees next to the chair, and grabbed Sienna’s hands. “Please don’t say that. I’m so glad you came here. You promised me you would come. It doesn’t matter about the rest. I trust Daddy to take care of it or to know who to trust, like Mr. Kane here.”

Sienna turned her head to face Kane. “I have money. It’s not a lot, but…”

“You’ll keep it. We’ll open a savings account for it, and then I’ll put your name on my checking account and get you a card.”

Her eyes widened. “No,” she said, horrified. The thought of taking his money nauseated her. “I’m planning on getting a job. I can pay my own way.”

Noah chuckled, stood, and pulled Riley up. “Let’s put this off until later and go eat dinner. Then you can take her home and deal with the situation.”

Kane nodded and pulled her from the chair before he wrapped his hand around hers. He put a finger over her mouth when she went to say something. “No, baby. Let it rest. We’ll get it all figured out. Please try to trust me.”

She sighed in frustration and then nodded. “I will.”

He pressed a kiss to her head. “Good. Let’s eat.”
