Chapter Twenty
Several weeks later, Sienna walked down the hallway toward Kane’s office with a smile on her face. She stopped when she heard his and another man’s voice. She hadn’t meant to eavesdrop, but her name was said, and it caught her attention. After listening for a moment, she felt like she was going to vomit.
At first, she thought she’d misunderstood, but then something else was said that tore at her heart.
Tears rolled down her face as she turned and raced down the hallway.
The air was knocked from her when she ran into a mountain of muscle.
“Whoa, pumpkin. What’s up?” Draven had grabbed hold of her arms to steady her, and he tightened his grip when she tried to jerk away. “Tell me what’s wrong.”
She shook her head. “I want to leave.”
He sighed and started pulling her down the hallway.
“Please, let me go. I want to get out of here.”
He closed the door behind them and locked it before he released her and leaned against it.
She saw the look in his eyes. There was no way she was getting out of the room until he was ready.
She walked to the other side and wiped the tears on her cheeks. “Let me go, Draven. This is what you wanted, and you’re getting your wish. I’m gone.”
“That’s bullshit, but we’ll deal with that shit later. Tell me what happened?”
She lifted her chin.
He took a step toward her. “Remember what Kane said, I’ve got his permission to punish you, and I’ll tell you, I’m looking forward to it.”
“I don’t care what he said anymore. I’m not his. I’m no one’s, and I want to leave.”
“So, I gather you’re mad at him.”
She angrily wiped away her tears. “It doesn’t matter.”
“That’s it,” he growled and started for her.
She held her hands out in front of her. “No, wait,” she screamed. “I overheard them.”
Draven stopped, and his brows pinched together.
“Who?”
“Kane and another man.”
“And?”
“He said how choosing me as his little was a bad move. That all I’m going to do is change his life.”
She wiped the tears away.
“Could you have taken it the wrong way?”
“I don’t think so, but it doesn’t matter. I always knew I wasn’t good enough for him. Hell, you and I both knew it.”
“I’ve never said that,” he said in exasperation.
“You never had to, Draven. I see the way you look at me. I’m nothing, and all I’ll ever do is bring him down.”
“That’s such bullshit.”
She shrugged.
“You aren’t going to talk to him about it?” he asked her.
She shook her head.
“Let’s go.”
She sighed. “Good. I just want to get a few clothes.”
“You’re not leaving, pumpkin. We’re going to talk to Kane.”
She dug in her heels when he tried to pull her out of her office. “No!”
He sighed and threw her over his shoulder.
She smacked his back a few times and screamed. “You’re a fucking bastard.”
His hand came down on her ass a few times. “Behave yourself.”
“Fuck you,” she said.
He sighed. “I already owe you a spanking. Keep it up, and I’ll add another.”
“I’ll be gone, so you won’t be able to touch me.”
He smacked her ass again, making her yelp. “Wanna bet?”
“Yeah, I do, asshole.”
“There’s another one.”
Sienna lay limply over his shoulder as he walked into Kane’s office and shut the door. Kane stood with a scowl of concern on his face.
Draven put her on her feet, facing the desk, and kept a grip on her arm.
Kane looked between her and Draven. “What’s going on?”
Draven looked down at her. “Are you going to tell him, or am I?”
Kane crossed his arms and stared at her. “Sienna?”
She shook her head and looked away.
Draven sighed. “She overheard a man and you talking about her.”
Kane sighed in confusion. “What did we say, Sienna?”
“That you should have never got involved with me, and I’ll end up changing your life forever, and then you laughed.”
“I see. Do you think you might have misunderstood what we were saying?”
“No. It was pretty plain to me.” She tried to jerk away from Draven. “Now, let me go.”
“Where the hell do you think you’re going to go, baby?”
“Don’t call me that,” she yelled.
Kane’s eyebrows rose. “Are you going to let me tell you what all was said?”
“Why does it matter? We all know I don’t fit in here. Draven thinks I’m a gutter rat, and you think I’m a baby.”
Both men growled.
“You couldn’t be more wrong, and you might as well know you’re not going anywhere until I’m satisfied,” Kane told her.
