CHASE
? ?? Trust I seek and I find in you… ???
Ipaced back and forth in the living room, waiting for Seb to get home. Surely he wasn’t still talking to her after this long, so the fucker could have at least sent me a damn message to let me know what happened. I looked at the clock and wondered if day drinking would make me feel any better about the shit situation we’d found ourselves in. The car crunched the gravel in the driveway and I tore open the door, waiting impatiently for him to get out of the car.
“So excited to see me you had to wait by the door?” he smirked.
“Asshole,” I grumbled, “you could have called me, you know?”
“That wouldn’t have been as entertaining. Now get out of the way so I can come in.”
I punched him in the arm as he passed, but all he did was chuckle before dropping into his overstuffed leather chair.
“Are you going to tell me what happened?” I snapped.
“Relax, I’m getting to it. She was shocked when she walked out and saw me there, but I convinced her to give me five minutes. I told her if she still wanted nothing to do with us at that point, we’d leave her alone.”
“Why the fuck would you…”
“Chase! Let me finish. We talked for a few minutes and she agreed to have dinner with us tonight so we could talk more. We have to figure out where to go because I don’t think going back to the club is a great idea at this point. She needs to feel more comfortable. I was thinking if we go to Jason’s place, we can at least get a private table so we don’t scare any old ladies,” he chuckled.
“Sounds like a good plan. I’ll connect with him while you cook me breakfast.”
“Why the hell am I cooking breakfast?”
“Because you were an asshole,” I said smugly.
He rolled his eyes, but headed to the kitchen and started pulling out pans. I pulled my phone out and brought up Jason’s info to text him.
Chase: Dude, I need a favor. We need a reservation at one of your private tables.
Jason:Sure, when?
Chase:Tonight.
Jason: Are you fucking kidding me? You’re asking me for a reservation with a few hours’ notice? Why?
Chase: We need somewhere to talk to Raven where we can at least have some privacy. Seb didn’t want to risk asking her to come here or to the club.
Jason:So, you found her? Good, you guys have been moody bastards the last few days.
Chase:Whatever, can you help us out or not? After all, we do give you free membership at the club.
Jason:Asshole. I’ll have a table ready for you at 7.
Chase:Awesome, thanks, man.
“Well? Does he have a table for us?”
“Yup, at 7. Will you let Raven know? Offer to pick her up.”
“I think it would be better for her to meet us there. Gives her an escape plan in case things don’t go well,” he chuckled.
“I guess that makes sense. So, how are we going to do this? She’s so skittish. We need to figure out how to tell her everything she needs to know without scaring the crap out of her. I mean, we already went over a lot of things the other night.”
“I think, probably, some of what we told her has long since fallen out of her head.”
“You could be right about that.”
We spent the afternoon brainstorming and by the time we were ready to leave for the restaurant, we had a decent game plan in place.
