“Stay away from me.” I ended the call and put my head down. That man scrambled my brain in a shameful way. Ashamed to want more than what I already had.
I looked around my father’s office. I took it over when I became the new CEO of Domenico Holdings. And when I killed the Sunrise deal, I staked my claim as Queen of New York for the other side of my father’s businesses.
A trace of cologne hit my senses and I looked up. Immediately, I choked back sobs as I rushed into the arms of one of the men I loved.
Of course, he knew.
“Are you okay, baby?” Giancarlo held me so damn tight.
“God, what kind of hooks do you have into my phone?” I snuggled against him.
“The kind that are meant to keep you safe.”
“I have to call my sisters and Nate.”
“Do you want me to?” Gian brushed away the tears that leaked out of my eyes.
So much came into focus past the stinging blur. “I want Sebastien and Anthony, too. Us. Together before I do anything else.”
“Of course.” He looked around. “Where’s your coat? Your bag?” Giancarlo let me go and marched around my office like a man on a mission, gathering all my things.
A man who would carry your purse was a keeper.
A mafia boss who would do it?
That thought prompted me to take it from him. I had to always remember not to emasculate my men in any way. Either in our relationship, to each other, or to the crime world we ruled.
No one in the crime world knew we were lovers. All of us. For a couple of weeks, Anthony, Sebastien and Giancarlo had paraded me all over New York to shame me when I had evidence against their fathers. I did some lewd things to stake my independence, but we’d not been seen in public together since.
With my hand in his, Giancarlo steered me out of my office.
“I’m taking Rebecca home,” he said to my assistant Leah-Ann. “Hold her calls. Anything urgent and confidential, call Sebastien Daria.”
Vale, my bodyguard rushed toward me from the small office I kept for him and Gil here at Domenico Holdings. “What’s happened?”
“Vale, Leah-Ann.” I gathered them close to me. “My father has passed. Please don’t say a word. To anyone. I have to notify my family first. Just let Felicity and Caroline know I’ve left for the day on personal business and I will contact them later.” My CFO and GC would hold down the fort for me.
“Vale, please take my car home. I’m...” I glanced at Giancarlo. “I’m fine.”
In the elevator, Gian held me against his heart and I sank right into his rounded pecs like he’d given me a place to hide. He brought me to his limo idling in front of my office building on Wall Street.
Inside the limo, he took out his phone. “I’ll call Bastien and hook in Anthony. You can tell them together.”
I nodded and rested my head against his shoulder as we drove away.
This was going to be a long day...
