CHAPTER 20
TINSLEY
I don’t know why I’m shocked at Harper and Elvira's behavior, but I am. Harper was always doing some kind of drug in boarding school, and Elvira actually got suspended for trying to flirt with one of the professors. They both ruled the school back then and didn’t talk to me. I considered myself one of the lucky ones.
I’m surprised they even remember my name, but they have clearly taken notice of me now. A lot of the women here tonight have. Leo stands out. I don’t mean that in a bad way. Or maybe it is bad because all the women here have definitely noticed him. Even in a suit, you can tell he’s got an edge to him. It’s hot as hell. I can’t even blame these women, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it or put up with it. He’s my freaking husband!
“I say you can go fuck off,” I finally blurt out after my initial shock wears off. Both their eyes go wide. I’m glad I can surprise them as much as they surprised me.
“Tins, you know it turns me on when you curse.” Leo stares down at me with a heated look in his eyes. He swipes his thumb across my bottom lip, not even sparing the women in front of us another glance. All of his attention remains directed right at me.
Relief floods me that he’s not pissed at what they said about him. I wasn’t sure how it was going to affect him, to be honest. I know the money thing is a sensitive subject, and it bothers him. At least I know it used to with the way he pushed me away at first. I hate that this fear lives in me that at any moment he’s going to think this is too much and walk out or turn cold on me again. I don’t think I could bear it after getting to know this other side of him.
“You did not just say that to me,” Elvira hisses.
“No amount of money would get me to fuck you, lady,” Leo says before he slowly turns his head back toward her. He gives her a dismissive glance. I know he’s hit his mark when I see the expression on her face.
“Do you have any idea who you’re speaking to?” Elvira's whole face has turned bright red. Harper is backing up, holding her little purse close to her chest now.
“Doesn’t matter. I don’t really give a shit who you are. You know what I do care about? The fact that you insulted my wife and tried to embarrass her or some shit. Honestly, I’m not really sure what your game is. But don’t think for a minute that I won’t cause a scene and embarrass you because I will.” Elvira opens and closes her mouth; her head is about to explode, but she’s too scared now to say anything. She’s not afraid of Leo but of her reputation being ruined in some way.
“Come on.” Harper tugs on Elvira's arm. A few people nearby are glancing our way now.
“Move your ass away from my wife.” Leo’s tone lets it be known that this is his last warning.
I almost laugh when they both scurry off quickly to get away from us. It feels good to have someone finally put those two in their place. They mistreat or manipulate everyone they come in contact with. It’s nice to see them get a taste of their own medicine.
“I’m sorry.” I sigh when we’re alone. Well, as alone as we can be right now.
“You have nothing to apologize for. I’m not sorry in the least. Maybe they’ll spread that shit around that if anyone fucks with you, whether it’s a man or woman, they’re fucking with me too.” Leo glances around the room like he’s searching for a new target that might be trying to fuck with me. I smile up at him, shaking my head. It’s these moments I find him utterly adorable, and I’m guessing no one calls Leo adorable, but to me he is. Especially when he gets so protective over me. I’m not used to having that.
“Let’s not make a scene. You get enough attention on your own.” I tuck my arm into his to pull him away.
“Me? Every fucker in here has been checking out your tits.”
“No one is checking out my boobs.” I laugh. The dress is tight enough that I don’t have to wear a bra, but I do have a bit of cleavage.
“Tits, babe.” He stops walking to stare down at me. The man is always looking at me. “Say it. I love when I get you to say bad words.” I can feel the heat fill my cheeks. I motion for him to come closer so I can whisper in his ear. I press myself right against him. His cock starts to harden instantly.
