Good lord. Who knew he was hiding that under his clothes?
“Oh, yeah right. Like you’ll dance and grind on me? I feel like I need a professional,” she dismisses him, and I notice the disappointment in Payton’s eyes.
“So you’ll come?” she asks.
“Sure, I should be able to.”
“Perfect! I’m so excited!” she slurs.
Kane returns and hands me my glass. “Excited for what?” he asks.
Kaitlyn explains the details as I lick the salt off the rim and take a sip. “Oh man, that’s gonna be wild. You gonna go, Hads?” he asks with a smile.
“Yeah, sounds like it’ll be a night to remember.”
Eventually, Kaitlyn walks away, and we find a spot next to Rowan and Diesel. Grayson and Kenzie are playing darts, and Knox is standing by the pool table with two blondes.
Shocker.
“So how was dancin’?” Rowan asks.
“It was so much fun!” I grin. “Kane’s a pretty good leader too.”
“Diesel and I used to go all the time, but now we’re tied down with two rug rats.” She chuckles. “Luckily, my parents begged to babysit, so I took advantage and dragged him out. We had dinner, and it was actually still hot when we ate it, and then we came here for some drinks.” Their son, Rory, is three, and their daughter, Ruthie, just turned two. They don’t get out much because of the kids, so I totally understand them wanting some alone time.
“And then we’re gonna go home and bang all night long,” Diesel adds, and Rowan smacks his chest.
“Well, good for you guys! Dinner, drinks, and sex. Sounds like the perfect date,” I blurt out before I can stop myself.
Fuck.
Kane must think I’m hinting about us because he shifts uncomfortably in his seat. The four of us fall into easy conversation, and eventually, Grayson and Kenzie join us. They’ve only been officially dating for a couple of months, so they’re all over each other. We were all surprised Kenzie won Grayson at the bachelor auction and even more surprised when they finally admitted their true feelings. I’m happy for her, though, because their relationship was years in the making.
Kane’s arm is around me, and any outsider would see that we’re together as our bodies mold together. A part of me isn’t sure how to comprehend this closeness, but another part loves how safe he makes me feel.
I try not to look in Knox’s direction, but it’s nearly impossible when his dates are giggling so damn loud. I don’t know what the hell they’re even laughing at. Knox isn’t that funny. He’s killing them at pool and showing them how to shoot during their turns. It’s just an excuse for him to be all over them while they bend over and pop out their asses.
After my fourth drink, my bladder threatens to explode, so I excuse myself and walk to the back of the bar. The restroom is down a dimly lit hallway, and fortunately, there’s no line, so I don’t have to wait to go inside.
When I’m finished, I glance at myself in the mirror as I wash my hands. Other than my face being flushed from the alcohol, the woman in the reflection looks like she has her shit together, but it’s really a facade. I still have a big decision regarding the twins, and tonight has made it even harder.
As soon as I open the door, someone grabs my elbow and pushes me against the wall. I nearly scream until I see it’s Knox.
“Jesus. What are you doin’?” I scold.
He buries himself in my neck and inhales. I stay frozen, trying my damnedest not to react to his touch. His hands grip my waist, and he holds me firmly against him.
“I hope he can make you orgasm as good as I did.”
I scowl, anger fueling my blood at his arrogant tone. “Drop dead.”
He lowers his eyes, biting his lip and flashing a devilish smirk. “I’d rather drop to my knees.”
I push on his chest, but he barely flinches. “Fuck off, Knox.”
“No need. I have two chicks warmin’ my bed tonight.”
The visual has my jaw clenching. Even though things have been rocky between us, and he sucks at communicating, he still sets my body on fire. Then he leaves me high and dry until it’s convenient for him to come around again.
I won’t let him get away with that again.
“Then why are ya bothering me? Two not enough?” I challenge.
His hand lowers down my body, slowly trailing down my thigh, then pushing up the hem of my dress.
“You kept lookin’ at me while you were supposed to be on your date. Thought maybe you wanted some help getting off since we both know you’ve been missin’ my fingers and mouth.”
“God, you’re so damn full of yourself. I wasn’t looking at you, and I haven’t been thinking about you, so you can—”
