“Why did she faint like that? Is she unwell?”

“No, don’t you remember what Dex said about Claire?”

The memory hit me all at once. “Oh, yeah, that’s right. The mating thing.”

We began to walk towards the house and Claire called out, “Bring her back to our place. I told her she could sleep in Jay’s room.”

I frowned at her and shared a concerned look with Aaron.

Claire crossed her arms over her chest. “Grayson. Bring my friend back to my house.”

Grayson did, and we followed.

My head was spinning.

Aaron was grinning.

“How long have you known about this?” I asked him, angry accusation in my tone.

“Like… two hours. We got home from town, caught wind of her scent and found her in Claire’s house. We would have told you sooner if we knew where you were.”

I nodded, unable to deal with the emotions coursing through my blood.

My arms and legs tingled, as though ready for battle. To run, to shift. I wanted to get rid of all this excess energy, but didn’t want to leave our mate.

“What’s her name?”

Aaron smiled. “Nevaeh.”

It was pretty but what did it mean?

Then it hit me, my brain rearranging the letters and coming up with the answer.

I laughed, loudly, the tension in my body dissipating.

“What’s so funny?” Aaron asked me and I waved at him to indicate not to worry about it.

Obviously, no one else had figured it out, and I’d explain later.

Grayson was putting Nevaeh down on the couch and she was sitting as stiff as a board, uncomfortable and embarrassed by the look of her red cheeks.

“I fainted again, didn’t I?”

Claire nodded. “Yes. Told you. You need to stay put. I’m going to call the hospital right now, and you’re going to take a few days off.”

Claire walked into the kitchen with her cell phone and began talking to someone.

I walked past my Alpha and Dexter and moved to sit on the couch near my mate. Not close enough to touch her as I ached to do, but near enough to drink in the beauty and the scent of our “Heaven.”

“Are you okay?” I couldn’t help but ask.

“Yeah… I met you just now outside. Thank you for helping me calm down. I was… not coping.”

“You looked like you were having a panic attack. Do you suffer from anxiety?”

I’d read a lot about depression and anxiety in the human population. It wasn’t something we wolves suffered from, fortunately.

“Yes, I do. Though it’s usually better under control that this. Why, do you?”
