“What are we going to do about our mate, boys?”

I could tell Claire was unclear about her path and the last thing I wanted to do was force her into a decision that would ripple poison through our future.

Taylor stared at me. “I want to take her home.”

I laughed. “Yeah, and lock her in the bedroom so she can never leave. I get that too.”

Because, boy did I want to do that as well. My wolf was in total agreement with that plan. But we had to be smarter than that.

“But… we can’t,” Jay said quietly.

We made our way out of the hospital and into the sunshine. I breathed in and inhaled the fresh air. Damn, it was stuffy in there.

“We need to give her a choice, whether we live here in the city or go back to the pack. But I won’t let her go, not for anything.”

Taylor nodded and Jay grinned. “Agreed.”

So now we just had to tell our gorgeous doctor that.

“Let’s go get her.”

We went back into the hospital with our heads held high, gave the nurse in charge a message for Claire, and sat back to wait.

I’d do anything for my mate. Even get a job in this filthy city to stay close to her. It probably wouldn’t be too bad… but I had one condition.

I wasn’t living in that massive building with those dog-box apartments.

I’d build her a house, as close to the hospital as possible.

And my mate could have everything. Her job and us.

If she still wante

d it all.

Chapter 13.

Claire.

“Doctor Masterson, there’s a patient in the E.R. wanting to speak to you.”

“Oh, who is it?”

I’d just finished answering the hundreds of texts, emails, Facebook notifications and messages on my phone.

Now, back to my men.

“He wouldn’t tell me, but he’s very agitated and asked for you by name and description. I can tell him you’ve left for the day, if you want?”

I wanted to go back to Dexter, Taylor and Jay, but what if this was a shifter who needed my help? Grayson, or one of his pack?

“I’ll come with you.”

I couldn’t text Dexter or Taylor, which was going to be a problem long-term. Cell phones for all three of them were going to be a necessity, especially if I kept working the hours I already did.

I walked into the E.R. and grabbed a clipboard. But when I pulled back the curtain, a shriek caught in my throat.

This man wasn’t a wolf.
