Epilogue:
Nine months later.
Grayson.
I drove home from Little River, my car full of the thousands of things Nevaeh had asked for the babies. All the things she wanted in the house before they were born. Nappies and blankets, and a cot and a car seat.
Phew.
I pulled up behind the back of the house and sat for a while.
So much had changed in so little time.
I was stronger and more assertive than I’d ever been, and our family was flourishing.
I grabbed some bags from the passenger seat and went to open the door when I saw her.
My mate. Waddling over to Claire’s house and knocking on her door. She leaned back over a hand pressed into her spine, her massive belly protruding forward.
Nevaeh had been a dream come true, in every sense of the word.
She was hardworking and tough, but super sweet and sexy as hell. She completed our pack, and I liked to think that we completed her, as well.
Nevaeh entered Claire’s house and I got out of the car, carrying all the bags into our home and then coming back for the boxes.
So much stuff… and we didn’t even know how many we were having.
Nevaeh had refused the ultrasound that Claire had offered. She was superstitious, and terrified that things would go wrong.
It had been such a strange nine months in that way. Nevaeh had turned from a beautiful young mate who barely had her footing in this world, to a terrified, and yet super-obstinate mama wolf.
Once I’d unpacked everything and Nevaeh still hadn’t returned from Claire’s, I decided to go visit my neighbours.
A slither of excitement coursed through my blood. It happened every single time I knew I was about to see my mate.
It was a great feeling.
And it still made me thank God every single night for the gift that was my Heaven.
I knocked on the door and waited.
Even after all this time, I liked to wait for Claire to open the door before barging in.
Dexter was still obsessed by her and their children, and he’d take my head off if I stepped out of line.
A smile lifted my lips. Or he’d try, anyway.
I was stronger and faster than I’d ever been, thanks to my mate’s love and all the sex we had.
Though…thanks to Claire, Dex would be a close second in strength.
The door swung open and Claire was before me, a worried look on her face.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“Um… your mate’s in labour.”
A grin stretched my lips up. It was a few weeks early, but I believed that was still okay.
