“Well that answers that question.” Dexter said, his tone begrudging.
I looked up at him. “What do you mean?”
“That’s what happened when I touched her too. She’s obviously your mate as well.”
I smiled at my Alpha. “Our pack’s mate, Dex.”
Dexter nodded once and I carried Claire back into Jay’s bedroom and laid her on the bed.
When I walked back into the lounge, Jay and Dexter had their jeans on and I felt ten feet tall. I’d found my mate, and she was as beautiful as I’d always imagined she’d be.
“What are you smirking about?” Dexter asked as he cracked open a beer.
He was tense and I knew jealousy, like any other monster, was going to shred him if we didn’t cut it off at the knees.
“I’m in shock. After all these years… I can’t believe we finally found our mate. We’re the first pack in the entire Woodlands area to find her, Dex. You have to see how amazing that is.”
The Alpha’s lips tweaked up at the edges. “Yeah, I can kinda see that.”
“And if you think about all the reasons we’re arranged into triad packs, it makes sense that we’re meant to make one woman perfectly happy.”
Dexter took a swig of his beer and looked at me. “What do you mean?”
Jay sidled up next to me. “You’re probably right. Taylor. I mean… I always wondered why the elders would do such a thing. To deliberately create every pack to have an Alpha, Beta and Omega. What was the real reason other than to stop all the Alphas fighting amongst themselves? This means that our mate…”
He trailed off and I realised like me before she woke up, Jay didn’t know her name.
“Claire.”
Jay grinned. “Claire…” He said her name slowly, like he was savouring the taste of her, “Will have a perfect family unit. An Alpha to protect her, a Beta to build a home for her, and me, an Omega, to be her best friend and probably the one who looks after all the kids when they come, since she’s a doctor. She’ll probably keep working… and stuff.”
Jay stopped talking as we stared at him in awe. Jay could be quiet, so I didn’t always give him the appreciation he deserved. He was smart and had enough heart for the whole family.
“What? You know I’ve always wanted loads of kids around.”
I moved my gaze over to Dexter’s and our eyes met with an understanding. Sure, we’d always wanted kids, but we didn’t want to hang around the house all day with them.
We wanted to work, provide for our family and the community. If our mate was an extremely intelligent, working woman, who would look after our house and the kids?
Jay.
Dexter cleared his throat. “Maybe you’re right.”
I nodded, trying not to let my happiness shine through my massive smile too much.
“So how are we going to convince her to stay, then? She’s human, for one thing, and I can tell you, when she woke up, she wasn’t too impressed that we brought her back here instead of leaving her at the hospital.”
Dexter grinned. “It’s simple. We seduce her into staying.”
Jay stared at Dexter wide-eyed, but I was more sceptical.
“Seriously?”
Dexter nodded. “What woman wouldn’t want the love and attention of three men?”
“At once?” I asked, trying to clarify the rules and intent.
I’d tried not to think about how we were going to share her sexually.
