“She extended me an invitation to train with her,” he said, and my heart skipped a beat.

“To become a sorcerer?” His chin moved against my hair as he nodded. I shifted so that I was facing him. “What did you say?”

A smile edged his lips. “I said yes.”

If I thought my heart was full a moment ago, now it was fit to burst. I wanted nothing more than for Peter to become a sorcerer and extend his lifespan indefinitely because a human life wasn’t enough. I had a feeling that even my long dhampir life wouldn’t be enough, but it was better than the alternative.

I inched closer and pressed my mouth to his. The kiss started out gentle but quickly grew deeper until it developed into much, much more. I would never tire of this, would never tire of his kisses or the light, airless way he made me feel in my heart.

Peter Girard was my soulmate. Somewhere deep down, I’d known it since I was thirteen years old, and if the glimpses of the memories he’d shown me were anything to go by, he’d known it since then, too.
