“I didn’t actually agree to the bet. I mean, I never got to hear what would happen if I won. So there’s no way you can hold me to it.”

“Natalie.” The way he says my name is filled with a warning that has heat pooling between my thighs. I wonder what he’d do if I really got in trouble with him. It’s such a strange thought but one he brings out in me.

“Okay, but—” I jump to my feet as fast as I can. “You have to catch me first!” I shout as I take off.

I thought I was quick on my feet, but Walker is on me in half a second. His arm snags me around the waist before I even make it to the door. I let out a squeal of excitement and fear as I practically fly through the air. He tosses me onto the bed, and I bounce just before Walker comes down over me.

We’re both breathing heavily, and it can’t be just from the three feet we sprinted. This is primal. I’ve gone and poked the starving beast.

“You really think you could get away from me?” His hand slips between us, popping the button of my jeans.

“No.” I shake my head. “I know I can’t get away from you.”

That’s the truth. The magic of Bear Mountain is real, and he’s the one. My soul mate. I belong to him even if he breaks my heart. Wilder will still own me on some level for the rest of my life. There’s no escaping him, which makes me want to cling to this moment. I can cherish it for years to come even if this all ends in a terrible mess where Walker ruins the beauty of this town and leaves. When he’s finished here, he’ll take my heart with him, but I’ll have these few days to look back on.

“Do you want to get away from me?” He pauses, searching my eyes.

“No,” I say simply. “I want you to give me what I need.” I’m not sure he’ll ever understand how much I mean that.

“If you let me. I’ll do that and so much more, princess.” He claims my mouth, and the kiss is so sure and sweet that I start to believe the promise.

I swear he’s already making me believe him without words. “More, Walker,” I moan, lifting my hips as I try to get the friction I so badly need. I’ve been riding an edge since Walker rolled into town. Who am I kidding? I’ve been doing it since the first time I took one of his phone calls.

At night when I lay in bed, I’d make believe he was there as I closed my eyes and imagined what he looked like. With that husky voice of his making demands, I knew Walker didn’t want anything other than me.

As he tugs at my clothes, his mouth never leaves my body for a second. It's as if my fantasies are actually coming true. Once my breasts are bare, he latches on to one of my nipples as I pull at his shirt. I want his skin pressed against mine.

He lifts up and yanks at his shirt, sending buttons flying all around. Of course hidden underneath his shirt is a wall of abs covered in a thin layer of hair. I run my fingers up his torso, and damn, does he feel good.

“You look surprised, princess.”

“I am,” I admit. “I knew you’d be big, but I was worried you shaved your chest.” He throws his head back and laughs.

“No, this is all me.” He grips the top of my jeans. “What about you, princess? Are you shaved?”

“What are you hoping for?”

“Right now, all that I’m hoping for is that you don’t tell me to stop.”

I lift my hips off the bed so he can pull my jeans down easily, and a full smile spreads across his face at my silent response. He takes them off and then my panties right after, so I’m left completely naked on the bed. His nose flares as his eyes eat up every inch of me.

“Bare,” he growls. He runs his fingers across the top of my sex, making me whimper with need. “Who are you keeping this pussy bare for?”

“Me,” I answer truthfully. “I like the feeling.”

“You’re about to love the feeling of this,” he promises right before his mouth descends.

I’m really about to find out if Walker is truly a man of his word. Deep down, I think I already know the answer.

Chapter Twelve

WALKER

I can feel her nervous energy as I kiss her stomach and shoulder her legs apart. “I’ve been dreaming of this,” I tell her as I put my hands behind her knees and push them up. “Since the moment I heard your voice on the phone, I knew you were special.”
