Lake crosses his arms, glaring at her. “Listen here, lady. I don’t appreciate your attitude and I certainly don’t have time for it. You better stand down.”
Willa jerks her head back, looking at him with complete horror. “I beg your pardon?”
Lake leans in close. “I didn’t stutter.”
“We’ve got this covered,” Rhett says, grabbing Lake’s arm and pulling him back. “You don’t have to worry.”
Waylen looks between the two of them, and then nods. “Good luck to you.”
Lake gives Rhett a glare so deep, I’m not certain I’ve ever seen such malice on his perfect face. Lake is fun loving, easy going and an absolute blast. I know why Rhett chose him, but I also know it’s probably not going to end well. Willa doesn’t look like she’s going to make it easy on him.
I let Rhett finish his introduction and walk back up to Enzo, who puts his arm around me and brings his lips to my ear. “This is going to be fun. That girl is a firecracker.”
“She’s something alright,” I laugh. “Poor Lake.”
“We’ve had nerdy girls, moms and now we’ve made the jump to crims. We’re really setting some kind of trend here.”
I laugh. “Camp Crim. It doesn’t get trendier than that.”
He grins. “Should be fun.”
Oh, I have no doubt.
No doubt at all.
These ladies are going to keep us on our toes.
And I can’t wait.
