“Please, Orion.” She bucks her hips. “Please.”

With a soft touch, I slide my index finger into her tight channel, stroking it in and out in time with my tongue.

“Yes,” she pants, “more.”

I add another finger, curling them on every downstroke.

The sounds falling from her lips coupled with her intoxicating taste has my hips shifting against the mattress. But this isn’t about me getting mine. No, this is all about Frankie getting hers.

When her legs start to tremble, I know she’s close. “That’s right, baby, come for me.” I stroke her g-spot and suck her clit into my mouth, sending her hurtling into oblivion.

“Yes, Orion, fuck!” She clamps her thighs around my head, pressing her soaking wet pussy flush with my face while she rides out wave after wave of pleasure.

“So pretty when you come,” I murmur once she relaxes, her legs falling open and freeing me. I press soft kisses to her lips and thighs, making sure to lap up every drop of her release.

“That was better than coffee.” She tosses an arm over her eyes and laughs. “My God.”

“Nah, just me, baby.”

“Speaking of.” She sits up and stares pointedly at my erection. “What about you?”

“Nah. We have forever for that.”

“Do we?” she asks, a hint of vulnerability creeping into her voice.

“Absolutely.” I nod emphatically. “Unless you plan on leaving me.”

She sniffles and my spine straightens. “Frankie? What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. It’s… nothing.”

I gather her into my arms, hauling her against my chest. “It’s not nothing. Talk to me.”

She crinkles her nose. “Can we maybe shower and put some clothes on first?”

“Of course.” I stand from the bed. “Let me start the shower.”

We make quick work of getting clean, and then we both dress in comfy clothes before heading downstairs in search of sustenance. A night of marathon fucking definitely works up an appetite.

“Talk to me,” I urge her, switching on the coffee maker. “Did I do something wrong?”

She takes her time replying, focusing instead on cracking eggs into a bowl. “It’s just… I love you!”

“Is that a bad thing?” I ask carefully.

“I don’t know. No.” She whisks the eggs together. “What if you leave?”

“Frankie.” I step into her space and move the bowl out of her reach. “I. Love. You. You’re it for me. For the rest of my life, you’re it for me. I’m not going anywhere, baby.”

“Everyone leaves.” Her voice cracks, and my heart does, too.

“Not me,” I vow, meaning it with every fiber of my being.

“You don’t always get a choice.” She looks up at me with tear-filled eyes. “Tyson didn’t.”

Oh, fuck. “Frankie.” I lower us both to the floor, cradling her in my lap. “Baby.”

“What if you get in an accident? What if you—”

It’s hard to swallow past the lump in my throat. This amazing, beautiful woman carries so much pain inside of her.

“We can’t see the future,” I tell her, gently raking my fingers through her damp hair. “There’s no crystal ball to tell us how things will end. But, Bluebird, I love you. I love Maverick. I love the family and the memories we’re making and I’m looking damn forward to what’s to come.”

“But what if—”

I tip her face up to mine and press my lips to hers in a chaste kiss. “Life is full of what-ifs, but not all of them are bad. What if we get married? Crazy as it sounds, the first thing I thought about this morning was you wearing white. What if we have another kid or two? What if we grow old together and spend the summers here with our grandkids?”

“You really want that with me?” she asks, her cheeks damp with tears.

“All of that and more. I love you, Frankie.”

“I’m still scared. But…” She sniffles and then smiles. “I love you, too, and I’m going to try. To try to conquer my fear, because all of those things you just said? I want them, too. I want them so much.”

“Even the kids?” I ask, shocking myself. If only Stella and Samson could hear me now.

“Especially the kids. I always wanted a big family, but after, well you know, I figured it would never happen.”

“How big is big?” I lift a brow.

“Three or four. I don’t know.”

Until Frankie and Maverick, I never—and I mean never—wanted kids. But now… “Four sounds good to me. Mav will be the best big brother.”

“You think so?” she asks, playing with the hair at my nape.

“Hell yeah. The kid has such a big heart. He’ll be a natural.”

She smiles. “I guess he is, huh?”

“Thanks to you.” I boop my finger against the tip of her nose. “You’re such a good mother to him. You amaze me, Frankie, and I can’t fucking wait to see what our future holds.”

“And me working at ATF really doesn’t bother you?”

I tense ever so slightly, but I don’t think she notices. “Like I said, I won’t ever stand between you and what you need to do to secure your future.”
