“I love Boston. Love the sounds of the city, the hustle and bustle of it all. Especially during the holidays. There’s a guy back in Boggy Creek, Bishop Harris, who owns a Christmas tree farm. He supplies trees to a lot of the government offices in Boston.” She smiled as if lost in a memory. “I used to love to go and pick out our tree each year. My father would bring a handsaw, and we’d cut down our own tree. They had Christmas songs playing, and you could get a cup of hot chocolate. Since Bishop bought it, he’s made some changes. Fun changes. They have all kinds of events throughout the season. Even a firepit where you can make s’mores.”

“Sounds nice. Do you always go home and spend Christmas with your family?”

She nodded. “Yes, always. My mother would drive to Boston and drag me home by my ear if I ever said I wasn’t coming home for the holidays.”

I laughed.

“What about you? Do you come back to Boston for the holidays?”

“No. My folks and sister usually go somewhere. Paris, Italy, Spain. They’re never home for the holidays. I honestly don’t remember the last time we even spent Christmas together as a family. I think this is the first year I’ve been home for the holidays since moving to LA.”

She looked at me with sadness in her eyes, then whispered, “I’m sorry.”

I laced my fingers with hers. “Don’t be. You can’t miss something you’ve never had.”

Bree blinked a few times. “What about this Christmas? You’re not leaving, are you?”

Those big brown eyes studied me, and I could hear the hopefulness in her voice. God, she looked so breathtaking.

“No, I’m staying in Boston through the New Year,” I said. “I take it you’ll be heading to Boggy Creek for Christmas?”

She pouted, and it was fucking adorable. “No. My parents don’t go away often, but they decided to treat themselves and go out of town for the first time ever over Christmas. Maybe we could spend it together?”

That made my eyes widen. “Yeah?”

“Yeah,” she replied with a slight laugh as she bumped my shoulder with hers. “I mean, if you wanted to.”

I pulled her onto my lap, and she quickly straddled me. I cupped her face with my hand and my heart did a little flip when she leaned into it. “I like you, Brighton Rogers. I like you a lot.”

Her breath caught, then a slow smile played across her face. She ran her thumb over my bottom lip and said softly, “I like you a lot, too, Luke.”

When I rolled her over, she instantly spread her thighs for me. I moved my hand down her side and between her legs. She was wet and ready.

“I want to make love to you, Bree…”

“Okay,” she whispered.

“But we don’t have any more condoms.”

“I’m on birth control.”

I swallowed hard. I’d never had sex without a condom. Okay, that was a lie. I did when I was eighteen at a college party once, drunk out of my mind. The idea of being inside of Bree with nothing between us made my heart feel as if it would beat out of my chest.

“Are you…are you sure? I haven’t been with anyone in about eight months, and I’ve always used a condom. Except once in college when I was too drunk to remember.”

She swallowed hard. “I’ve never slept with anyone without protection, but something about you makes me do crazy things. I’m sure. I want to feel you.”

I reached between us once more and lined up my throbbing cock with her entrance and slowly pushed in. We both sighed with pleasure, and I had to stop moving for a few moments.

“What’s wrong?” she asked.

“If I move, I’m going to come.”

Bree laughed and wrapped her legs around my waist.

When I finally got myself under control, I moved in and out of her slowly, relishing the feel of her tight body wrapped around me.

Everything about this moment was perfect. A part of me wanted to pretend we could do this and nothing would change…but the moment I told Bree who I really was, things would be different.

And that scared the hell out of me.

The light from the morning sun shone in through the windows, and I groaned as I pulled my pillow over my face.

The sound of a door clicking had me tossing the pillow to the side and sitting up quickly. Bree smiled as she crawled onto the bed beside me. “I’m starving.”

“What time is it?” I asked, scrubbing my hands down my face.

“Ten. We have to be out of the hotel by noon, and I need to get a change of clothes.”

I reached over, picked up the phone on the side table, and hit the button for the front desk. “Yes, I was wondering if I can possibly book this room for tonight as well?”
