He takes the phone from me and adds himself. “Now I have to beat you too.”
“Never going to happen, nerd boy.”
Laughing, he grabs my suitcase, and we hit the road.
The drive is fun. It’s amazing how much Simon and I have in common. We like a lot of the same TV shows and movies, we both read Stephen King books the day they come out, and we agree tacos are the best food to have ever been invented.
The only thing we disagree on is music. I’ll listen to pretty much anything, but his screaming heavy metal playlist is annoying. “You can’t even tell what they’re saying,” I point out.
“You can if you listen.” He starts to sing along and head bang, making me laugh.
“It sounds like barking dogs. I think you’ve been tricked. They throw the sound of an electric guitar over a bunch of dogs barking and you buy it.”
“Says the woman who listens to mainstream pop.”
“It’s not like I listen to boy bands!”
“Thank fuck for that.”
“I like music I can dance to. How do you dance to screaming and guitar feedback?”
His smile reaches across his face, and he rubs my leg with his free hand. “You don’t. I suppose I can suffer through some pop if it means you’ll dance with me.”
I wrap my hand around his. “Are you a good dancer?”
“Nope, I have the rhythm of a dial tone, but I’m sure you’ll make me look good.” He winks at me as we pull into the Harper estate.
“Place looks the same,” I murmur.
“Minus all the wedding shit,” he agrees. His gaze locks onto mine. “I know your last visit here wasn’t too positive. Are you okay with being here again? Especially with Anderson and whatever chick he’s liable to bring with him?”
Actually, I am. The last time I was here I was a mess. This time, I’m showing up with a sexy guy on my arm and no score to settle. “I’m good. I’m looking forward to a few days on the beach.”
“And I’m looking forward to fucking you in every hiding spot we can find.”
“Then let’s get our asses out of the car.”
Kasha’s mother, Monica, greets us at the door of their massive mansion. “Lydia, so good to see you again!” She gives me a warm hug while I try to figure out if she’s actually a shapeshifter or had a brain transplant or something. Monica has never liked me. Even when Anderson cheated on me and left me, she saw me as the problem, not him.
“Kasha and Roman aren’t here yet, but she told me you were coming and bringing a friend.” She nods to Simon. “Simon, how have you been?”
You mean since he broadcast pictures of your stepson fucking a bridesmaid for everyone to see?
“I’m good. Thank you.”
“Well, Ms. Lina will show you to your room,” she tells us, and turns to greet another guest.
“So, I guess we’re in the same room,” I murmur as we’re led down a long hall. This is Kasha’s doing. Whatever. Just because you put me in a room with someone doesn’t mean I’ll suddenly decide a relationship is a good idea. We didn’t come here as a couple, but it sure seems that way.
Ms. Lina is barely out of the room when Simon pushes me against the wall and kisses me like he’s never going to have another chance. A moan sneaks its way through my lips, and I feel his grin against my mouth.
“You act all distant, but I’m not buying it, Lyd. You want me as bad as I want you.”
I slide my hand down the front of his shorts. “Maybe I want this.”
“It’s all yours, babe.”
I know just the way to knock that cocky look from his face. Sliding down to my knees, I pull down his shorts and underwear in one swoop. His cock is already hard and thick, jutting toward my lips, and I tease him, barely letting the tip of my tongue flick over the sweet spot under the head.
His hand wraps around my nape, stroking softly. “Fuck, yes, Lydia. Suck me.”
His words spur me on. If I’m being truthful, I’ve wanted to do this since the first time he kissed me. Since I can’t unhinge my jaw like a damn snake, I can’t come near taking all of him in, but judging by the cursing and incoherent praises pouring out of his mouth, it’s not an issue.
“I’m going to come,” he gasps. When I hum and keep going, he curses again and his fist tightens in my hair.
Suddenly, the room is brighter, and I feel a draft coming from our left. Where the door to the hallway is located.
Oblivious, Simon makes a sound that’s a cross between a hiss and a growl, then comes down my throat. I’ve barely managed to swallow when I hear Kasha’s voice.
