“I would love to travel with you, sweetheart,” Rarev murmured, squeezing her hand. “But Chief Commander Rarev has said that I must avoid your planet for a while.”
“Well, that wasn’t exactly the kind of travel I had in mind,” Christine told him. “I mean, I’d want to come back and see my kids once in a while, but what about exploring some other planet? Or maybe even some other galaxy?,” she added hopefully.
“You know, I do have an opening for an intergalactic scout,” Commander Rarev remarked. “And I know that Roarn has the qualifications for such a career.”
“A scout that flies all around the galaxy?” Christine exclaimed. “Could I go with him?”
“You would be more than welcome,” Commander Rarev said, inclining his head.
“Oh my! Thank you!” Christine nodded eagerly and looked up at Roarn. “Honey? Would you like that job?”
He brought her close to his side and nuzzled her neck gently with his furry cheek.
“I would love that job. Any job where I need never be parted from you again is my dream.”
“Then it’s settled!” Christine exclaimed. “I’ll sell my cabin and give my two weeks’ notice at Whiskers and Tails. That will give me time to get everything in order. And then…we’ll travel the galaxy together!”
“Together,” Roarn rumbled, pulling her in for a kiss. “And we’ll never be parted again,” he added through their link, since his mouth was busy kissing her.
“Never,” Christine promised. “We’ll be together forever.”
And she knew it was the absolute truth.
