Commerce laughed.
“I am actually in the states. New York to be exact. What do you say to drinks and some fun at Gables?” Commerce asked.
Ivan snorted. “Are you kidding my friend, I’ll clear my schedule.”
Commerce laughed.
“Clear your schedule? You’re full of shit. You got so many people working for you now, you probably have people wiping your ass.”
“You looking for some side work, I’ll give you that job instead.”
“Oh nice job to offer your best friend.”
“I’d have to really trust you to have you that close to me.” Ivan teased.
“Nice, but no thank you. Get some sexy gold digger to do that job for you.”
“No gold diggers for me. So what time do you want to meet up?”
“Seven good for you? I just got in a few hours ago and need a little something. I’ve been deprived for several months.”
Ivan scrunched his eyes and responded very seriously. “I can take care of that for you. Need me to have Dante send some women over?”
“You’re a riot buddy. Always trying to push those broads off on someone else. Never understood why you don’t take them on yourself. Women drool over you.”
“As they do a Marine, American soldier like you.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. I’ll meet you guys at seven. Can’t wait to hang out and catch up.”
“Yeah, me too. Later.” Ivan said and ended the call.
He couldn’t help but smile inside. Very few people if any, made Ivan smile and never did he show emotion. He was constantly playing his role. He wasn’t a fool. He trusted no one, except Dante and Commerce. Others he trusted to certain levels. Like his men, his enforcers, guards, employees that were around him most of the time. They were his security. Roman, Dante, and Mirnon. He had become cynical, mean, unemotional, and nothing, no one got to him. He had done several crazy things to survive. Things he would never talk about or look back on. He pushed forward, knowing nothing could penetrate his heart of titanium. No one got to him. Everything was about business, about prevailing and having the upper hand. He was a made man, and the only things that mattered were those he needed at the moment. Nothing more.
Dante came back into the meeting room.
“Mirnon will take care of it. What did you want to do about the meeting with Sanford over the building you’re interested in purchasing in Rockland?” Dante asked.
“Set it up for tomorrow. We have a change of plans for tonight.”
“Change of plans?” Dante asked.
“Yes. Commerce is in town. We’re meeting him at Gable’s.” Dante smiled.
“Great. I love that place. God, it’s been months since we saw him.”
Ivan nodded as he started to pack up some of the files on the table.
“I’ll have the staff prepare the house for the weekend then?” he asked.
Ivan lifted his chin. “I hope to relax a little. We’ll finalize the deal with Yolkov tonight before heading to Gable’s.”
“Perfect. Oh, I hope you don’t mind, but the Realtor wants to meet at some local café in town. Considering that you’re trying to fit in and not look suspicious buying the building, I figured it was okay. Especially since you like those little crumb cakes they make there that Mirnon picked up a few weeks ago.” Dante teased.
“I suppose if we have to, fine. Be sure to schedule that meeting at a decent hour.” Ivan said to Dante.
“No problem. If you’re ready to go I’ll have Roman bring the car around front.”
“Yes, call him. The sooner we solidify this deal with Yolkov the better. I expect great profit to be earned from that night club.”
