I kiss her again, addicted to the taste of her lips. I know we might not get to do this once we leave this room, and I can’t get enough. She really is something special. I definitely am in trouble.
“Right, well you better leave here first . . . or maybe I should?”
“I’ll go first. Give it five minutes, and then you follow, okay?”
She nods and chews on her passion-bruised lips. “Right, I’ll see you in a moment.”
I open the door and peer outside, glad that no one is around, and I scurry to my desk with a much lighter heart than I had when I first went in there. I didn’t know what I would find in that bathroom, and I certainly didn’t think it would be that. I still don’t quite know what to think about it.
Now I’m glad I opened up to her. Perhaps that’s something I should do more often.
I sit at my desk and run my eyes over the paperwork there, wondering how I’m supposed to spend the rest of the day acting normal. A small smile plays on the corners of my lips and remains there as Jodi comes back in the room to join me. We share a secret now, something that binds us even tighter together.
“That isn’t something that happens very often,” she breathes out as she takes a seat.
“No, it isn’t for me either.”
I’m glad we’re talking about it outside of the bathroom. It means it might not become just one of those one-time things never to be repeated. I already want to do it again, and if she asked, I know I would.
“So what work do you have for me this afternoon? Nothing too taxing, I hope.”
“Oh, no, just some filing. That sort of thing. I don’t want you to use your brain.”
“Good. Because you just blew my mind totally.”
We both laugh at the joke, consumed by one another as we do. I knew hiring Jodi would be fun, and I guess a part of me thought it might go down this road, but I definitely wasn’t prepared for this feeling.
In the heat of the moment, I thought I could fall for her, but even though I’ve calmed down now, I still feel it a bit. I’m sure I could actually be with this woman and quickly tilt all the way into love with her. I just wish I could see inside her mind to learn how she feels about me. I don’t want to end up just like the other guy, a lost cause, so hopelessly devoted to her that I lose my mind, willing to do whatever it takes to claim her.
She’s my obsession, and I want her for my own.

“Where have you been, girl? It feels like forever since I’ve seen you!” Millie scans my apartment. “Clearly, you haven’t been decorating your home because it’s still as bare when you moved in.”
“I just haven’t had time, what with work, and . . . you know, other stuff.”
“Yeah, it’s the ‘other stuff’ I’m interested in. Please, tell me what’s happening there.”
For a split second, I consider keeping my sordid affair to myself. I know Millie will have a few choice words for me, and I don’t know if I want to hear them, but at the same time, I can’t keep it in any longer.
“Things have sort of been happening . . . with me and Brock.”
She’s silent for a beat too long, her face flaming red then paling as she digests this.
“Are you serious? Brock? As in your boss? You do realize that’s insane, don’t you?”
“You knew I have a thing for him. I told you right away.”
“Yeah, but it’s one thing to have a crush on someone. That’s normal. Especially when bosses are sexy because they have all that power and stuff. But acting on it is something else. It’s dangerous. You could lose everything.”
My whole body flutters as I think about that moment where he walked into the bathroom and caught me touching myself over him. It was embarrassing, I was shocked at first, but then it very rapidly became something incredibly sexy, and I didn’t stop. I wanted to take things up a notch anyway. I was done playing games, and it worked.
“I know I could. I’ve thought about the risks, but it just feels good with him, you know? He isn’t the sort of person who would fire me if I decided I didn’t want to do it anymore. We’re just having fun.”
“Fun?” Millie snorts and cocks one eyebrow at me. “I don’t think you’re remembering the effect you have.”
